I have the same problem. Just started about 3 weeks ago. I thought the ice was stuck so I emptied and switched from crushed to cube but its still serving only crushed. It's getting frustrating because the ice goes everywhere and its a mess with the family. I'm gonna look on other sites for possible solutions. If I find something I'll post.

Same problem - will only serve crushed ice. It started when the unit was just over a year old. Is there a simple way to repair this at home?

On the bottom of the bin there is a metal rod, this goes into the back wall where the solenoid is. find the square hole it goes into, pull down the white plastic piece with your index finger. you should here a clunk. now put the bin back and check to see if ok. if not you may need to replace the solenoid assy.

Mine was the problem with the lever disengaged on the back of the wall. I pulled the bin out, reset the lever, put the bin back in and all works now.

If you don't put the ice cube bin back in properly (some lever on the back has to engage with some lever in the back wall, you'll have this problem.)  I was only getting crushed, so I tried a different position, and now I'm only getting cubes.  If someone figures out just how to set the bin back, please help!

Ice maker problems

Not sure which refrigerator you have but on mine when you select cubes there is a baffle that is pulled out of the way making the opening large enough to allow full sized cubes to pass. When you select crushed the baffel is left in place forcing the ice to pass through the crushing section. My guess is they are all probably about the same. So either the baffel peice on yours is missing, electrically stuck. Hard to say for certain with out seeing it.

Frigidaire model glrs267zcwi side by side. Crushed ice comes out when either the crushed or the cubed button is depressed. How to fix it please?

It sounds like the water line to the ice maker is partially obstructed (probably semi-frozen) and the unit is making smaller than normal ice cubes. This causes the ice ejector to "shatter" the smaller cubes, producing the appearance of crushed ice.

The easiest thing to try is make sure the water line connection inside the freeezer isn't frozen. A hair dryer can be used to thaw the inlet to the ice maker, but just be careful. Remove some of the product in the compartment so you have enough room to work.

Ice maker crushes ice will not extrude cube cubes

Your ice bin is out of alignment. Pull the ice bin all the way out and re-insert it and make sure it locks in place. When you re-insert the bin, look underneath the bin. You will see a metal rod. It must go INSIDE the yoke at the rear of the freezer, NOT under the yoke and NOT over the yoke. In the yoke.
This is a common problem and will happen again. The ice bin has a way of dislodging itself. If the rod is not in the correct position you get crushed ice regardless of the setting.

unplug the fridge 2-3 minutes and see if it resets the computor to make the ice control work normally again. You can also open up and get the cubes out cheaper than having it repaired. Sorry about that!

Ice maker is crushing ice when cube ice button is on

We've had a similar problem, possibly the same, with our LG in-door ice maker. Whether cubed ice or crushed ice is selected, it crushes the ice.

We found that there is a little lever on the inside of the door, on the lower right behind the ice bin, which freezes in the down position. This is a literal "freeze up", as a block of ice forms in the little well under this switch and eventually freezes the switch in place. Since the switch needs to go up to provide cubed,.. we only get crushed. On 3 separate occassions we've thawed and chipped out (carefully) this little ice dam and gotten cubed ice capability back for a few weeks. At which point it freezes again. I have no idea why water collects there in the first place.
