The recovery tank lid will not snap in place. The back latch will not hold. Can you tell me if I need to order a new lid or the whole tank. If so, can you give me the part number. The latch will latch when you latch the back first but of course your front latches are not latched. Does that make sense?? Thank you, Patricia Biles

The proper way to install the reovery tank lid is to attach the front such that it catches the tank and then lowered to snap in place in the back

How can I install recovery tank latches on Hoover Steam Vacuum model F-220?

To install the recovery tank latches on a Hoover Steam Vacuum model F-220, follow these steps:
  1. First, make sure that the recovery tank is empty and that the machine is turned off and unplugged.
  2. Locate the two latch slots on the sides of the recovery tank. These are the slots where the latches will be installed.
  3. Hold one of the latches with the clip facing up and the open end facing the latch slot.
  4. Insert the latch into the latch slot, making sure that the clip is facing towards the front of the machine.
  5. Repeat this process for the other latch on the opposite side of the recovery tank.
  6. Once both latches are installed, close the recovery tank and make sure that it is securely locked in place.
I hope this information is helpful! Let me know if you have any other questions.

It will not pick up the water. Help !!!!!

Problem #1 - My Steamvac is not Sucking!
If your Hoover Steamvac was working properly and suddenly it is not sucking any water, nine times out of ten, the culprit is the lid on the lower recovery tank. The lid on the lower tank (or dirty water tank) needs to hinge at the front and snap down at the back in order to creat a proper seal. If the lid snaps on but is not locked on at the front, you will not get any suction. Simply take the lid off, and ensure that when you put it back on, it must hinge on the front tabs of the tank.
Problem #2 - My Steamvac is still not Sucking!
Right now you are thinking that you shouldn't have let your brother borrow your Steamvac. And you are right, because he used the hose attachment and returned it with the hose still attached to the front of the tank (some models only). Now when you try to use it there isn't any suction. In this case, you are missing your tank duct. On models where the stair/upholstery hose attaches to the front of the recovery tank, one must remove a square plastic piece in order to attach the hose. This square plastic tank duct must be replaced before the Steamvac will operate properly in the upright position. hope this helps ive copied it

I have a Hoover SteamVac Spin Scrub that won't pick up the water. Could you please give me some info on how I might fix it. Thanks!

The most common reason for lack of pick up is that the lid is not fully seated on the dirty water tank. Be sure to hook the two tabs on the front of the lid, and then snap the rear latch into place. Another reason is that the duct on the front of the dirty water tank is missing. The duct may have been removed to install the hose, and was not put back in place. It is a square plastic piece, about the size of a slice of sandwich bread, which slides into the front of the tank. A far less common reason for no pick-up is that the seal that the tank sits on has fallen off the motor cover suction tube. You will see a round tube on the bottom of the dirty water tank. This sits on top of a large rubber seal on the motor cover when the tank is in place. Be sure the seal has not fallen down into the hood.

Hoover Steamvac does not **** up the water

There are two common situations that can cause lack of pick-up. First is that the lid is not properly attached to the recovery tank. Make sure it is latched in back and snapped in place in front. The second common problem is that the duct on the front of the dirty water tank is missing. There is a plastic duct about the size of a slice of sandwich bread which slides into the front of the tank, and is removed when the hose is in use. A less common problem is that the large round rubber seal that the tank sits on has fallen off the suction tube on the motor cover.

When trying to scrub rug, the cleaning fluid runs out but the scrubber will not **** it back up. My rug is soaked!

You have an air leak. This is almost always caused by the lid not being correctly installed on the recovery tank. Remove the lid, hook it in the back, and snap the front latch in place. A less common problem is that the square duct on the front of the lower tank has been removed to use the attachment hose and not put back in the tank after use.

Steamvac will not **** up water

Check the lid on the lower tank. The front of the lid lips over the tank to lock it on and snaps in the back. You probably haven't locked the front edge down

Check your filter screen insde the upper tank. if your model has a wrap around filter try to pull it down about 1/2" to maximize air flow.

Hoover carpet cleaner not picking up water

Assure the ring gasket is in place under the hood. A round rubber gasket must be in place on the round tube under the hood where the recovery tank sits to connect the vacuum from the motor to the round tube on the bottom of the tank.

In addition, make sure the recovery tank lid is properly aligned to the tank to seal.

Lastly, make sure the square duct is latched in place in front of the recovery tank, that links the nozzle plate to the tank lid.

Having trouble

Make sure that the lid for the recovery tank is locked down all of the way around. Sometimes it doesn't catch on the back. There also may be a foam filter inside of the recovery tank lid. Make sure there is at least a 1/4 in. gap from the top. One other filter is from the bottom, it has a red frame, pull it out far enough to clean it. One other thing is the duct installed in front of the recovery tank, if not, no suction.
