It's supposed to cycle on and off depending on your settings. Are you sure something's wrong? Does it keep its set temperature within 15 degrees either way? If so, it's working fine.

How do you replace blower fan

While I've not yet had to do it, the fans are small and attach with four screws.

I think you may have to remove any pellets in the hopper and along the augur in order to access the fan. I suspect that specific instructions are included with the fan.

The fan connects to the wiring harness with one plug-in connector so it's a simple process of removing four screws, unplugging the old connector, installing the new fan using the four screws and plugging in the new connector.

You likely will have to take off the main panel to get access to the interior of the unit. I'd suggest you contact Traeger directly at http://www.traegergrills.com/ for specific details. I've always found the people a Traeger to be very helpful.

My trager grill is smoking a lot in the pellet hopper

That could mean that pellets in the augur have caught fire and it can work its way back to the hopper. Then you really have a problem. Are you sure the fan is running?

You should be able to hear it. The fan helps keep the heat from working its way into the augur. If it's not running, you should also be having trouble controlling the temperature.

Traeger has specific instructions on its website for testing various components including the fan and customer support can assist you with this problem.

Here's a link to the Traeger website: http://www.traegergrills.com/. I'd suggest you get in touch with them ASAP because you definitely don't want to deal with burning pellets in the hopper.

Our traeger smokes but the fan does not run consistantly?

The fan is not supposed to run consistently. The purpose of the fan is to help control the temperature. It runs hard at first to help get the fire started then it slows down to maintain the temperature you've set. If you change to a higher temperature or if the temperature drops below what you've set, the fan will run faster causing the fire to burn hotter. You'll also find that as the temperature increases the amount of smoke will decrease.

My traeger smokes but won't heat up...I have it on high...not smoke.

Have you cleaned the ash out of the firepot? I clean mine with a shop vac after every five or six uses because the ash builds up and "insulates" the fire, keeping air from the fan reaching it so it just smolders and never really gets hot.

Nothing works, no fan, no auger

Sounds like no power. Is it plugged into a GFI circuit that might have tripped. On its website in the FAQs Traeger mentions that if pellets get wet, this can cause a GFI circuit to trip and they suggest a specific remedy. Check out their website at http://www.traegergrills.com/ and if necessary contact their service techs who can help you troubleshoot.

Does not heat to right temp.

You didn't give any specifics which makes it difficult to respond because there are many reasons why a Traeger grill might not heat to the right temperature.

One of the most common is problems is the outside temperature. If it's hot, the Traeger may overheat unless it is tended constantly. When it's cold, the Traeger may not get as hot as it should based on a normal setting and you may have to set it higher to reach the temperature you want.

Other reasons could be mechanical in that the hot rod may not be keeping the firebox as hot as it should or the fan may not be running as hard as it should to get the temperature to the right setting.

If your firebox has not been cleaned, ash will effectively insulate the fire, preventing heat from building up in the cooker.

Some people clean their Traeger thoroughly after every use. Some never clean theirs until something goes wrong. I clean mine after every 4-6 uses, depending on how long my cooking sessions have been.

If I've been cooking pork shoulder low and slow for many hours, I'll clean it more often than if I had grilled steaks multiple times for 15-20 minutes at a time.

Likely, if you're cooking in "normal" outside temperature of 60-80 degrees, your Traeger should be holding fairly close to the temperature you've set. If it's not then you may have a fan or hot rod problem and you ought to contact Traeger to set what they suggest.

I'm getting an "Err" message on my digital temperature reading. The grill starts up but then shuts down when the "Err" message comes up.

Remove your grill, inner shield and outer dip plate from the Traeger. Start the Traeger in smoke mode. Observe to see if the blower fan is working. Is the auger turning? Are the pellets dry? Condensation can make the pellets swell and cause plug ups.
