Just purchased the Arlec AT4003 rechargeable Lithium torch from Bunnings today. How do I narrow the beam width. The packaging says it narrows from wide to narrow

Can you twist the bezel or cylinder? That is the way to change the focal length - I'm assuming you mean the AT0003 head light torch?

How do I change the stitch width when using applique patterns?

The stitch width should adjust up to at least 1/4" wide. When doing applique, set the machine so the needle is centered on the raw edge of the fabric. If your machine is not stitching wide enough to cover the raw edge, then perhaps something is amiss with the machine. May need to take it for service.

How do I narrow the scan beam on the n410

The scan beam is fixed and can not be adjusted. However moving the n410 closer to the bar code will reduce the width of the beam itself. The narrow beam is designed to accommodate static stands as well as manual use.
Simply hold the n410 a few inches away from the bar code and the beam will be able to read the code underneath. No adjustment except the distance between the n410 and the barcode is required.

MC9190 WLAN Problem

To permanently disable the Suspend Mode on a MC9190:
On your PC, create an empty text file, then type the 2 following lines:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Timeouts]
"BattSuspendTimeout" = dword:00000000

Save the file, then change the extension to ".reg". This changes the text file into a registry file.
Copy the registry file in the /Application folder of the scanner gun. Cold boot the device. Your MC9190 will no longer go to sleep mode, or "suspend mode".

To automatically enable the Wireless antenna at startup, create another registry file, then type the 2 following lines:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\WLAN]
"InitialState"=dword:00000000
Save the file, and copy it into the /Application folder of the scanner gun. Cold boot the device.

I have a mfc-8440, 5 years old, low usage, 50% drum life, new toner cartridge. The problem is that the contrast of the printed copy does not change regardless of the setting using the path...

This is very easy to solve. Remove the drum and toner cartridge. Look into the machine where they sat. Now look up and you will see (a little aukward but its there) a glass plate the width of an A4 sheet of paper. Run your finger accross it. Look at your finger and will probably be dirty. This is the window the laser beam passes thru to hit the drum. When its dirty it does not allow enough ;light to the drum hence a weak beam and light printing.
