Hi, it might be a file system error. You could try removing the hdd from the usb enclosure and connect it directly to your pc via SATA. (power off both of them before doing so) If it really is the file system then scan disk should repair it automatically when turning on the pc. Then if the pc recognizes it you can put it back in the usb enclosure. Good luck!

you need a sata board to get maximum speed of sata driver connect it directly to motherboard sata jack converter does not give full sata speed
partition magic may do it, but chances are not. in order to change a filesystem, you have to erase all data to avoid compatibility issues. some file systems have file size limits or even file name character limits and doing a format without erasing the data can corrupt the drive to the point where the data is unable to be recovered. I always recommend backing up data first and would never even try a format without backing it up.
Dear Fried its possible.. Go the Boot Menu at your BIOS ( For go the BIOS Press DEL at startup your system) there you may se Hard Disk Priority Option. There you can change Hard disk Priority... you may need setup your sata as first one..
