The sanyo tv does not play avi files. it says "unsupported file"
You can try converting AVI files to another supporting format. Or you can try a free AVI player and play AVI files on your PC, such as Leawo Blu-ray Player, which is a free 4K and Blu-ray player that can support a lot of formats including AVI.

That sounds like a circuit board problem. Not a very common problem either. Most likely you will need to replace your video board, as that is where the color control is located. It could be a power supply problem to the plasma grid if you are running a plasma tv. Otherwise it can only be the video board. Call a tech for an estimate (most likely a 500-1000 dollar repair)

Hi, - Still images: JPEG format or RAW format (preview only) - Music: MP3 format - Video: AVCHD, MP4 (AVC) or MPEG1 format (not playable in some cases) Make sure that you're using the compatible file formats in the USB Drive. Also check if the USB Drive which you're using is compatible with the TV. Click here to check the list of compatible devices which Sony recommends, The accessible file or folder limit in a directory is 1,000 for USB. This limit includes non-supported files or just folders. Files or folders are populated based on their time stamps. Photo, music files or folders exceeding the limit will not be displayed. Check if the above mentioned criteria meets the requirements. Thanks for using FixYa.
The TV will only detect USB Devices if it is formatted in FAT32 format.
Files from a USB device need to be compatible with the following file formats.

You have not mentioned the TV model #.. If your TV does not play avi. files I am sorry to tell you it does not support moving pictures -- it only supports MP3 music files and JPEG picture files !!. Try these two to confirm.
SOURCE: hi i have
you can't and DIVX is an AVI format. MKV is an entirely different encoding format. There are no TVs or DVD players that support MKV. Also you will not get a DVD player that will paly BlueRay. DVD and BluRay require 2 different lasers on the drive to read the format so your software will not allow for this through a USB or hdmi either. You have what you have and there is nothing you can do aside from using the PC the movies were pirated from and connect it to the TV.

AVI is just a format - the video inside it can be coded using just about every codec. That sharp supports files that are coded using DIVX 4 to 6 and XVID 0.8 to 1.3. You must make sure that the avi files were coded correctly. For that install this program and use it to check the files
