My iMac has a CD/DVD drive, but I posted a X-Plane 10 pendrive to avoid inserting DVD #1 every session. It functions perfectly. Another point is to connect all peripherals (stick and pedals etc.) BEFORE launching X-Plane 10. Then calibrate your peripherals within XP 10.
I have no pedals set, but instead a pitch-stick with grip throttle and a Logitech joystick with twist grip to fly helicopters.
I'm not using the flippingbook, instead I use the one of Kvisoft which can convert PDF to flash flipbook on mac. No problem happens, so maybe you can try it.
Which icons are disappearing and reappearing? If you're talking about the Dock (The quick-launch and management area at the bottom of the screen by default), that may have been set to hide it's self, only showing when the mouse is at the very bottom of the screen.
Other icons that come and go are ones that represent volumes such as external hard drives, memory sticks, network places, CDs/DVDs. What icons are being problematic?
Hope that helped, please clarify problems if not!
Oh and by the way - iMac is just that particular type of computer. The Operating System is known as Mac OS. Knowing this will make getting help easier in the future :)
Get out your Mac OS disc and restart your computer and get that disc into the drive. You may need to restart with the disc in, but that's ok. Just restart again with the "C" Key pressed and the computer will launch with the OS disc, and then you can access the file menu when it finishes launching. Choose "Disk Utitlity" from the file menu and you can repair the system files on your hard disk. then restart without the disc in the drive. K
Launch Safari, then go to the preferences in the safari menu. Click on "Auto Fill" and then select to use the info from your address book vcard. Click on the edit and change the info as needed to get the correct zip code and then you should be in business. K
Try deleting a file called MFSLibInit which the scanner sometimes seems to erroneously create when you launch the software. The file will appear in the dimage folder (you'll find that folder in the preferences folder within the library folder). Then re-launch. This solved the problem on my powerbook but I now have a new MacBook pro and am having the same problem and this is not solving it. Good luck.
