You will have to manually eject the disc. take a straightened paper clip and find a little hole near the slot where the disc goes in. Insert the paper clip and it should eject the disc. If there is no hole, you may need to access the disc drive by removing the back panel and/or disc drive faceplate.

Woah! You don't want to hear this but forcing a second disc into the drive has probably destroyed the drive read head. They are pretty tough and it might be able to survive but you will most certainly have to dismantle the drive to remove the DVD and not create any more damage. Kind of like scraping someone elses car in a parking lot. More damage is done when you try to back off of the other car than the initial hit. (not like that's ever happened to me :) )

The Eject button on my Acer4820T doesn't work

Hi
It might just be stuck. If you view the CD/DVD drive from the fron you'll see a small hole. Use a needle or paperclip and press gently into the hole and it should open. You can also try the following
Open My computer Right Click on the CD/DVD drive in question Click on Eject and it should open. If not there might be some damage to the internals of the CD/DVD drive. You can still open it with the paperclip trick

Cd drive wont eject

Try ejecting it through "My Computer". Right click on the drive and select "eject". If you can't locate the drive, then it's probably missing the driver.

My dvd won't eject after playing.

What exactly do you mean? A DVD or CD will not automatically eject. You must tell it to.
If, however, you mean that when you press the eject button it doesn't come out, then the drive has a problem. You can push a paper clip in the little hole in the front and the drawer should come out. If you can eject it manually but not with the button, then your drive is bad--perhaps something broken in the button.
You can also go to "computer" or "my computer" and right-click on the CD/DVD drive and choose "eject" to see if it works by using software.

On my HP pavilion mx 75 my hp cd--writer will not open any easy fiX?

Hello

Well, if there is a cd stuck in the device, you might fix this problem by force ejecting the cd/DVD.

Here is how we do this:
Take a small pin, push it into the small hole near the eject button on the CD/DVD rom. While doinf this, gently pull out the trey.

If this was a stuck cd, just take it out, if there was no dc/dvd in the rom, it might be a faulty eject button. Test this by going to My Computer, right click on the CD/DVD rom andd choose to eject.

If this does not work, i would suggest thatyou buy a new drive, because it is often much cheaper than to repair.

Let me know if this work.

Kind regards
Andrea

I have a Gateway 300x Micro-Tower case circa 2002 and I can not open the case, without breaking it. I'm trying to install a new audio card and can't get at the 300x innards. Help!

Most of these towers are vertical style, therefore the big button is just to the left of the Gateway symbol. Push it in and pull the left panel away from the case.

Hi I cannot get my d.v.d drive to open and close. What do I do?

  1. If the keyboard has a CD/DVD Eject key, press it. The Eject key is usually placed by the volume knob and is marked by a triangle pointing up with a line underneath.
  2. Double-click My Computer .
  3. Right-click the icon for the CD, CDRW, or DVD drive that is stuck, and then click Eject.
  4. If the CD or DVD drive door button is a long clear plastic bar on the front of the PC, press firmly on the right side of bar. Some models have a button on the front panel of the PC to the right of the hinged door. Press the button to eject the drive.
  5. If the drive door button is part of the PC case and is covering the actual drive door, open the door that is part of the PC case and press the Eject button on the faceplate of the drive.
  6. Restart the PC and press the Eject button on the front of the drive when the first screen appears (before Windows launches). If the drive door opens this way but does not open in Windows, another software program is taking control of the CD driver. Try shutting down or configuring any software programs that create discs or monitor the CD or DVD drive.
  7. If the door still does not open, do the following:
    1. Close all programs and shut down the PC.
    2. Unplug the power cord from the power outlet.
    3. Look for the small hole on the faceplate of the CD or DVD drive. This is the manual release. The location of the manual release hole will vary

5ee8abb.gif

  1. Straighten the paperclip and insert it into the manual release hole until resistance is felt.
  2. Once the resistance is felt, keep pushing the paper clip until the drawer opens a little.
  3. Remove the paper clip and gently pull out the drawer until the disc is accessible.
  4. Remove the CD and turn on the PC.
If the tray still does not open, do the following steps to check the power cable for the drive. Work on a hard flat surface over a non-carpeted floor:

  1. Turn off the PC.
  2. Unplug all power cords from the back of the PC.
  3. Press and release the Power button on the front of the computer.
  4. Remove the side panel.
e0ef68c.gif
  1. Unplug the power cable and wait five seconds.
  2. Find a different power cable that is not being used, plug the different power cable into the back of the drive, making sure that it fits firmly into the socket. If a different power cable is not available, replug the original power cable into the back of the drive, making sure that it fits firmly into the socket.
  3. Replace the side panel and plug in the power cord.

  1. Turn on the PC and press the eject button on the front of the drive.
If the optical drive does not have the manual eject feature and the CD tray will not open by using the steps in this document or if a disc has shattered inside the drive, the CD, CDRW, DVD drive may need to be replaced.

Thanks
