I have an amana side by side refrig, the frig side cools a little

Have you tried adjusting the cooling level? Does it still freeze on other settings? Is this a new or older refer?

Put a thermometer in both the freezer and the fridge. Fridge should be around 40F if not a little lower, but should stay above 30F.

Freezer should be just below 30.

See if the fan in side the frig is working It mite be on the freezer side If the fan is not working it will not blow the cold air in to the frig side

SHOULD HAVE A AIR DIVERT ER CONTROL TO SEND MORE AIR TO FREEZER AND LESS TO FRIG SIDE TRY TO SENT MORE AIR TO FREEZER SIDE AND LEAVE COLD CONTROL COLD ENOUGH TO ACCOMMODATE THE FREEZER SIDE TO BE COLD ENOUGH

Chances are if they are getting cool but not cold-

1) the evaporator fan in the freezer is not running
2) Defrost heater has failed
3) Defrost sensor has failed
4) Defrost timer/refrigerator control has failed.

Check for ice build-up on the back wall of the freezer. If there is ice, unplug or turn the unit off for 6-8 hours with the doors open (put any food in a cooler with ice to maintain). Note water may come out of the refrigerator.
Plug the unit back in or turn it back on, close the doors, and check temperature after a couple of hours of operation. If all OK, you will need to have the above tested, or, if you know how to use a multimeter and can read a schematic/wiring diagram, I can instruct you on how to check the above.

not supposed to be hot to touch, try pulling out refrig and vaccuming the coils, your probably FULL of dust and debris, also remove the kickplate from front and clean under there as well

4 yr old sears side by side...not cold in freeze or frig side

1.Dirty condenser coils where heat is transfered to the room air. 2.Frost build-up on back wall of freezer section which would indicate a defrost system problem.
