Your drain hose is too low or there is no air gap where the hose enters the drain line.
This causes the water to siphon out as it fills.

  • Anonymous Mar 08, 2009

Put the drain hose back on the washer.

Raise the end of the drain hose as high as the top of the washer.

Then fill with water and it should stop on its' own.

Maytag legacy series washer

The drive motor which spins the drum is connected to the drum by a rubber belt. Sounds like the belt is burned through. Make sure you can spin the inside tub by hand to verify that the tub can turn freely before you replace the belt. The hum is from the drive motor just spinning freely.

My maytag washer, will not fill w/waterit runs in

Check your drain hose. It only goes into the drain stand pipe from 4 to 6 inches. Insertion any further will creat a siphon and constantly drain the tub. The stand pipe needs to be at least 36 inches from the floor.

Maytag top load washer water runs but doesn't fill.

Drain is to low. You will have to raise the drain hose above the top of the washer. Whats happening is the water is siphoning out as fast as it goes in.

I have a Legacy SAV405DEWW machine wont run

I just had the same problem. The washer would stop about 2/3 through the spin cycle and not start again. Replaced the timer. That did NOT solve the problem.

Goes through cycle, but doesn't drain. Will drain manually

Hi, Sounds like it could be timer. Does the timer advance to the off position? There could be a partial plug in the hose or pump also. You can add water again and then go to spin cycle. Lift the drain hose out of the drain pipe just enough that you can see the water flow. You should see water draining out with a bit of force and the stream should be the sizt of the drain hose.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can be of more assistance.

Thanks

Maytag legacy series washer not holding water

Same problem here. But according to Maytag Service, the draining pipe may be too deep inside the draining tube on the wall, thus creating a siphon effect and not allowing the tub to fill.
Their suggestion is to ckeck the pipe and make sure no more than 6-8 inches are inside the draining pipe. This should take care of the suction. We'll see, Imma do that when I get home.
