Wont print It keeps saying Offline. I have been on all the troubleshooting websites but nothing helps. I have tried new paper, there are no paper jams.

i think that you have wrong printer pre-selected.try from control panel to find printers and with right click change the pre celected one.....

Install software driver again..

try on the print menu open file and you will see offline click on it to change to online and let me know again if we can try another solution

my printer keeps saying its offline and will not print i did what it said and now it says its online again but still wont print .....anyway to solv this ....thanks.....i have a hp officejet 4315v all in one nel pls help

Power cycle the printer
Try again


How is it connected?usb?wired ethernet?wireless?
check the connectivity coz it matters

what are you trying to print?
try printing from notepad if it prints i could be the software you are using like MS Office or MS Word

if it totally not printing from pc to printer
check the printer as standalone if it is printing fine
if not check the ink levels you might need to replace inks

Make sure that cable to printer is attached and if printer still shows offline then in control panel for the printers make sure that you right click and choose Use Printer Online

You may not see a paper jam.

This may work for you, it has worked for many here I given this advice so gave it a try it could work for you. Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.
And gave the rode that the ink slides on a good clean and maybe a bit oil on cloth and wipe the rod with it.

Here is a link to the HP online support site, where you can view detailed instructions for clearing a paper jam on your printer. Also a frequent solution is to reset the printer, by following these instructions. If that doesn't help, please let us know what your operating system is, xp or vista, and the exact error message you are receiving.
See this MS link for possible info about the offline error. Have you updated your xp to sp3?
Also go to control panel>printers and faxes and click the printer name, choose the printer menu drop down and choose properties, then advanced and make sure you have NOT chosen BOTH print directly to printer and print offline. See this link for more details. If there are documents pending in the print queue, go to the printer menu and cancel all documents to clear the cache, then reboot your computer and try to print again...
