Re: Mircowave heats propperly, but clock goes blank
Possible fault with your timer controller unit processor board. In many cases insects can cause secretion and so the clock circuit can malfunction. remove the unit and use a air cleaning. heat the board if there is presence of moisture.

Sounds like the control panel. All the other parts are just brute force parts and either work or they don't. Over heating components on the control board are the probable cause.
probably a defective magnetron; very common for this vintage microwave. there are usually generic magnetrons available; as the original GE part will be expensive.
You have a faulty display module due to one or more components leaking. Some models have a seperate display module that can replaced without the complete board having to be replaced. If not, the board needs to be replaced. You need to ask your spares suppliers that have info. on that model.
Press CLOCK, press number 2 then 2 then 2 again and then press CLOCK again. Does it say 2:22?
Everything should now work.
Do not run Empty, do not use any metal in there and do not use alot (MW kills all the vitamins and nutrition in food - like eating MUD for your body) .... and don't forget to reset the CLOCK ;-)
We had one that did the same thing. my brother got so mad at it he put a wrench in it and turned it on. It didn't do anything to it. No power surge nothing. It acted as if I put a plate of food. Lighted up turned and even beeped when done. The wrench wasn't even hot. Now I do recommend this myself. But we went and got antoher one.
There is something in there that magnifys the power inside the mircowave and it sounds like its out.
