More than likely only a new display will fix it, it is that whole front silver panel with the buttons and display plus a big part of the wiring loom going lots of places inside the machine.

This is a flaw of the machine: the buttons are metal and catching electrical discharge. The screen with electronics is just above these buttons and will get fried. A change of the display will correct the problem. Keep in mind that you will have the correct one. (brightness of the display).
You need to:
-remove the bean holder.
- open the upper screws in the back to tilt the
- open the box tied with a tie rap to gain access to the main board.
- remove the big flat cable from the main board.
- remove display unit with buttons by removing 2 front upper screws in the corner.
- remove small flat cable from front unit.
- replace screen ( 2screws) with big flat cable in front unit.

My lenovo LCD screen is flickering black and striped lines, how to get it fixed in Richmond Hill Ontario

Laptop computers have LCD displays that are sensitive to many things. LCD displays have faults that sometimes produce a flickering screen, lines, dots or a faint display. These screens are sensitive to magnetic fields or electronic items near the computer. Speakers, cell phones, lights and other electrical items are examples. Your display also could be flickering due to software issues such as the video drivers or hardware issues relating to the inverter going bad or the LCD screen itself needing to be replaced. Trace the cause of your problem to come to a resolution.

1.Turn off the computer. Disconnect all external devices. Turn the computer over (bottom facing up). Take out the battery and reseat it. Turn the computer on.
2.Reset your resolution and refresh rate.
Windows XP:
Right click an open area on your desktop. Click "Properties" in the drop-down menu.
Click the "Advanced" button at the bottom of settings tab. Another dialog box appears. Click the "Monitor" tab. Change the Refresh rate to your default, or 60 hertz. Click "OK."
Windows Vista:
Click "Start, Control Panel." Find and click "Appearance and Personalization." Click "Adjust Screen Resolution." Change resolution to the default, or 800 x 600. Click "Advanced Settings." Click the "Monitor" tab. Change the refresh rate to the default, or 60 hertz. Click "OK."
Windows 7:
Click "Start, Control Panel." Find and click "Display" Click "Change display settings" on the left side. Change screen resolution to 800 x 600. Click "Advanced Settings" in the lower right. Click the "Monitor" tab. Change the refresh rate to 60 hertz. Click "OK."
3.Check the computer's surroundings. Move away any speakers, fluorescent lights, fans, cell phones, radios and any other electrical device that can cause flickering. Temporarily move electrical items away from the computer to see if they are producing this issue.
If the flicker stops, put back one item at a time to determine what is causing the problem.
4.Connect an external monitor to your laptop computer to see if that screen is also flickering. If there is no flicker, then the problem is strictly with the laptop, indicating a possible hardware failure. Contact the manufacturer for a replacement LCD.
If the flicker continues, go to next step.
5.Reset/Update your video driver. Click "Start" and right-click "My Computer." Click "Properties." The "System Properties" dialog box will appear.
6.Click "Device Manager." A list of items will appear. Click the (+) sign next to "Display Adapters."
7.Right-click the video adapter and click "Uninstall." Confirm removal. Restart the computer. The video driver will automatically reinstall itself.
8.Check to see if the flicker still exists. If so, go to the manufacturer's website. Download and install the newest video driver and BIOS for the computer.
9.Restart computer once drivers are installed. Continue to the next step if there is still flickering.
10.Open up your display screen all the way. If the flicker stops by opening it a certain distance, it is the display inverter. If the flicker still exists, the LCD screen should be replaced.
11.Contact the manufacturer of the computer for more information and a possible replacement inverter and LCD display. This will depend on the manufacturer and the computer itself.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks

Screen flickers

If light is good and picture flickers, then it is either a bad LCD ribbon cable, or cable not well placed into connector, or a bad LCD display, usually it is the cable.
If picture flickers like light is dimming out and coming back, then it is the LCD lamp, probably in need of replacement.
In some rare case a faulty Video card is causing the problem.
Usually to fix this you need to take apart LCD display and upper laptop plate, to reveal the display cable.

Display flickers

Hi, Check all your connections are fitted properly it could be a faulty wire if you can try another wire then do so & see if that solves the problem. The only other thing it could be if you had your machine apart & maybe the video card is not pushed right into the slot look for the small white clip that clips into the rear of your PC inside the machine. If none of this works then I suggest your video card is no longer working properly so you need a new one. Please leave me feed back: Malcolm Campbell, Thanks.
