If it is not digital all ready the you will need a digital box for it. If you already cable or satalite then it should be geting digital all readey. You only need the digital box for anlog tvs and you only have a antina to bring in the stations.

Want to convert analogue tv to digital

You need a digital converter to receive digital signals on an analogue TV (old type). If you are using an outside antenna you can purchase the box from places like Walmart, Kmart, Radio Shack for around $40. If you have cable TV or Sat (Dish or Direct TV) you need one of their boxes to convert the signal back to analogue. The Walmart type boxes WILL NOT WORK for cable or Sat TV.

You could try coax cable switch.
It will allow you to change from the signal going to the cable receiver and directly to the tv.
You would have to walk over to the tv and physically switch it.
shutting of the cable receiver may help too, while you are watching local channels.
Also, if you get a digital receiver, the digital signals come in much clearer.

I have an Apex digital 32" LCD TV Model LD 3249 and Serial #36056009262 Is this a high definition TV

Yes. 720p High-Def capable.

Remember you have to have a High-Def signal source to actually view High-Definition video. This means local broadcast TV in HD or digital cable TV with HD service and a HD channel or satellite or a Bluray Disc.

Tv tuner will ot detect digital signal in windows media center, vista

All US TV signals are now digital, but most TV tuners are like our old TVs - analog. Are you sure your tuner is a DTV tuner? If not, you will need to replace it or get a DTV converter. A DTV converter will not let your computer pick the channel and time though.

But one footnote. Broadcast digital TV is often not the same a cable digital TV. If you get a cable digital signal it is encrypted to the actual serial number of the receiving box. No broadcast DTV converter can do this. This is how the cable company now controls the number of receivers and one has to pay for EVERY set.

Salutation TrudyK,

Great question! First think to know is that if you are getting your programing from a cable or satellite provider a digital converter box would not be needed. These services are not being required to change their signals. If you use rabbit ears or an antenna a digital converter maybe required.

Looking at the specifications of your televisions they all appear to have analog tuners which would need digital converters to receive the new digital broadcasts.

Thankfully the FCC does have a program in place to offer coupons to assist in purchasing the new converter boxes.
