Starter switch intermittant

When I push the starter button, it only works intermittently. If I hold it and kinda move it around it will end up starting.. Its VERY frustrating.. Ive heard that the switch can be taken apart and the contacts cleaned but I dont know how to take it apart... I cant seem to find a diagram online.. Any suggestions?

Should only be a couple of screws holding it together have a look from the bottom then try a squirt of water displacement like wd40 or crc if not one of the soldered fittings may be loose

SOURCE: Starter problems

you need to check and see if you have 12volts at the relay and if you have 12volts at the wire from the switch on the relay. if you are getting power to the wire from the switch then you may have a bad starter relay.

SOURCE: fuel pump ducati 750 sport 2002 runs at times, but mostly not

Your fuel pump is vacuum operated, I would look for a crack in the rubber somewhere. Also, the side stand, the bike will start with it down, but will shut off the second you put it in gear. I have a 2002 S4.

SOURCE: whilst riding my aprilia,my display will

It seem like your on the right track ,if you have power one minute and nothing the next .you could have as you suspect an eathing problem ,Wires can rub and the plastic caseing will exspose the bare wire which will cause the problem you are getting .Theres no quick fix here you need to check any wires that could be eathing out ,And this could be anywhere on the bike around the effected area where you are having the problem .

Starter works intermittantly.push the button &

You need a test light on the starter terminal when it won't start. Attempt the start and if the light comes on, but the motor doesn't, the motor is defective. In that case, remove the starter from the engine and inspect each brush located at the opposite end from the drive for excess wear or weak spring tension that holds the brush in place. Don't rotate the brush 180 degrees when replaced. I don't know if rebuild kits are available--check with a dealer. Hope this helps!

Where is the electrical system chasis ground on a 2000 Triumph Sprint ST? It looks like the negative cable from the battery disappears into the wiring harness. I want to check the soundness of the ground...

Comes from the battery negative terminal to frame and repeats at points around frame, ie headstock for electrical fittings. Any proplems just fix a wire from battery neg and put to earth point anywhere you suspect is bad earth. if then works, problem solved.

I have a honda s2000. intermittent issues starting. Push the button, get a whirr sound no cranking of engine. Most of the time it starts fine, no issues at all. I have problems about every 10-14 days,...

Need a new starter.. Whinning noise probably the solenoid not positioning the starter drive gear with the fly wheel. Basically the "hold in coil" of the starter is not working. Not a bad idea to have a voltage drop test done on the wiring to it.

My 98 golf won t start intermittently. I replaced

If you run a push button directly from the battery to the solenoid, the engine will crank when you push the button.

If the no start condition is because of the solenoid, this will not fix the issue.

If the no start condition is related to circuitry of the ignition system and/or fuel system, this may fix the issue, but may not, as well.
