You can do it yourself for about 50.00 by installing the convergence repair kit for your model which are available from www.tvrepairworld.com that contain parts and the CD with instructions. A shop normally gets bewteen 175.00 to 300.00 for the repair depending on which shop you get to do the repair.

The convergence IC's are black in color with white lettering on them and will start with STK. These IC's will be standing up and be about 2" X3" in diameter. These IC's will also be mounted up against a large metal device called a heat sink. good Luck

I got the convergence amps from www.electronix.com for $10 each, plus a couple bucks for some heat sink compound. I also purchased a good quality solder and a solder sucker while I was there. It's a good outfit and they were very responsive.

Just looking at this problem and solution and thought you should also be aware that everytime I find the convergence ic's failed on this unit there is a 5 amp cp (circuit protect fuse) on the power supply.

Hi bluemags,
It is true that you should use a higher power I.C., I do that all the
time. However, the one to use is the STK392-120. This one is rated at 5
Amps unlike the STK392-110, 150, which are both rated at 3 Amps. I have
not checked the data sheet on the 180. They are all OEM, since Sanyo
designed them all. Beware of generic knockoffs not made by Sanyo. The
generic I.C.s do not have the quality as the Sanyo originals.
