Is there a compatibility problem with Everio camcorder & iMacs?

I can download film to the iMac; into iMovie - everything is fine. Am recording at 16.9. (not using Everio software as apparently Macs don't & can't use it). i use PAL in Australia. As soon as I try to transfer the film file to iDVD in oder to burn a disc, (in fact as soon as I drop the film into the 'drop zone", the film is concertined (elongted) & burns to disk in that elongated form. What is the problem? Also, can't get the iMac to read the MOD files. What is wrong? Please help. Jo

How to convert .MOD file to mpg, avi, wmv,mp4,flv,mov,mkv and other common video formats?

if you got a JVC camcorder, or Panasonic camcorder or Canon MOD camcorder, you would have problably encountered such issue--- what to do with the MOD/TOD files? And you want to convert the recorded .MOD file type to mpeg, avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv or whatever more common, so that you can put them on Youtube, Myspace, Yahoo video, Metacafe? the problem is most major video editing suites seem to unwillingly accept the MOD/TOD format.

Someone successfully made it simply by changing the extension from .mod to mpg, but for most people, they just failed only to find there is no audio after the extension is changed, or the changed one doesn’t allow you to import these files into Windows movie maker, not to mention upload some video to Youtube.com or Facebook. People use different operation system, windows xp, Vista or else. No one wants to say they just want to enjoy the .mod files on camcorder

Stop wasting your time and getting pissed off. There is a very simple program that convert .mod NOT ONLY to mpg but many others like avi, mkv, flv, mp4, wmv, rm, rmvd, mov, dv, mg2 and swf. MOD converter is the one shoot all the trouble. This excellent mod conversion tool is not just a converter but also a video editing tool. From now on, with the MOD converter, you can enjoy your mod video on many media player, even on portable devices like blackberry, Gphone, PSP, Creative Zen,etc.

It will not appear as an attached hard drive. If you access it through imovie you should be able to access it. The article here should give you some pointers on the process http://www.iskysoft.com/article/import-camcorder-video-to-mac.html Hope this helps.

I have a Canon FS20 camcorder. I have recently switched to a mac; however I need the transfer utility software to download the pics from the camera to the iMac. I already have image mixer for mac. Where...

Do you have iMovie? On mine, with any camcorder I've had, when I have iMovie running and plug the camcorder in it automatically changes to the Record mode. Click on the forward button and it will start the camcorder. Press the Record button when you get to the part you want to record. You can then edit the beginning or end of the section to use the portion(s) you want. The software controls the camcorder to go frontwards or backwards. Works very slick. Not sure what to suggest if you don't use iMovie.

Imac and downloading video

Though I am not familiar with this camcorder, it probably creates an MPEG4 file. To get it into iMovie (depending on your version of iMovie) you may have to convert it to something that iMovie can understand. Try opening the file with a free program called MPEG Streamclip (www.squared5.com). If it is recognized, export it to either Quicktime or DV. IMovie should be able to open one of those.
