Zen nomad jukebox xtra in need of repair, any suggestions?
Well I have a practically brand new zen nomad xtra jukebox with the kiss of death on screen,i.e. Rescue Mode v1.4 HWv0.01 with the four selections. I have downloaded the rescue program from Creative, but even though when I connect the player to my computer and it is recognised in the "computer" section and the usb cable connects leaving the zen screen with the connection logo, the program states that no appropriate player is attached to the computer. There is no OS on the zen and it only shows a storage media logo in the computer window to which files cannot be written to. Can you fix this? if so , give me a price?
I had this problem, and somehow tortured the computer and device into taking an OS. I recall having to go to the reset screen more than a few times ( paperclip in reset hole, pushing the play/pause button) and trying to load the firmware. On perhaps the 10th try, it worked. In the meantime, I rebooted my computer a few times, went through a USB Hub instead of direct (not sure why that had a bearing on the problem, but it did).
I wish I had the step-by-step solution, but it is solvable. Treat it like a puzzle, or a GITMO detainee, keep hitting it with new ideas until it gives up the little secrets of why it's not easily fixed, because it is definitely not easy.
