Freezer light won't come back on .

you should be called the freezer expert now because your freeze gradually going to damaged.

It was the fan at the top of the freezer that had stopped working after 3 years, therefore the freezing air wasn't getting to the top of the freezer. From the inside, unscrew light unit and unclip, pop out two circular discs at top and unscrew one screw. Unscrew 2 more screws and prise the back panel off. (Arrows mark the clips). Pull off fan, take out motor, replace (keeping rubber bits) and push back fan with a bit of nail varnish on spindle. Put everything back together. Turn on, depress door light switch and after 30 seconds fan should rotate. You can buy a fan on eBay or from www.4daewoo.co.uk for about 40 pounds.

Make sure light bulb is screwed in pretty snug

The freezer still works , correct.? The light could be either burned out or one of wires leading to it is loose.

Sounds like your control switch is going bad. Good thing you have the quick freeze button. You may want to go ahead and replace it. The whole thing will go out soon. This is something you can replace yourself.

You won't do it. An inverter will keep a compressor running at maybe 200 or 300 watts but it won't start it up.

Well a freezer is easy to repair. The circuit goes from one side of the power cord to the cold control and down to the compressor then out to the other side of the power cord. Id the control or compressor relay is open then she won't freeze. All the parts to it are listed HERE.
From the list I see an overload for the compressor. If that one is open it won't freeze. Bypass the temp control wires to see if she runs.

I'd let it dry out totally then try it again, some of the electronics may have gotten wet when you defrosted it. Give it a week somewhere warm and dry like a garage. If you didn't attack built up ice in the freezer with a knife while defrosting it it should work after it dries out. Most people end up killing freezers by accidently poking holes in the evap coil while trying to remove built up ice.
