Thats usually an issue with the vertical output IC which will prevent the picture tubes from lighting and the set will throw the error code for berticla protection. Replacing the vertical out IC should solve the issue in most cases. Your model uses the TDA8177 its at IC4B01 board location shown belo. and you can get one at the following link http://tvrepairworld.com/vertical_output_ics
The illustration below shows where its at indicated by the red rectangle

SOURCE: What do I need to

I had three tv's VS-50607,VS-50605, same problem.I called Mitsubishi and got no help.Took me two years to find because the sets were not acting up when I was there.Last set was out completly with 2-4 code. Found problem to be cold solder connection of DY (Yokes) on vertical .I bent the tip on my Weller gun and used a mirror and soldered. It was a sure repair.I went back to the first set,and soldered and it repaired it!,The second set got junked out before I could get to it.

SOURCE: MITSUBISHI WT-A42 ERROR CODE 22 "SHORT PROTECT CIRCUIT"

error code 22 is a short protect circuit. this means the tv has found a problem in the tv and will not let it turn on till fixed. this could be several different circuits in the tv that is causing this. we need to test some parts to see what this is. the most common is a shorted convergence circuit. a repair on this would range around 400.00. You should check using a multimeter and also you should be good at soldering

PS:I strongly advice if you don't have experience in electronics then better leave this job to a tech

I have a mitsubishi model wt42311 TV that will not stay on. The error code is 2 blinks a pause and 2 blinks. What needs to be fixed?

2,2 is short protection---it means one of the two soldered in fuses that protect the convergence circuit is bad.

What it really means is both of the STK-392-110 convergence chips this set uses need to be replaced---one of them got the fuse.

May be a do it yourself job if you know how to solder etc. Total parts cost should be under 30 dollars.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

The tv sound works all the time when turned on but occasionally the video either does not come on or goes of while watching it.

It is usually a vertical deflection circuit problem. Here's the basic troubleshooting:

  1. Make sure that no front panel buttons are inadvertently stuck in an "engaged" position.
  2. Press MENU button. If a small horizontal line appears at the center of the screen, you have lost vertical sweep on your TV. The protection circuit shuts down the picture to protect the tubes from burning a line across them. The intermittent problem may indicate a loose solder. Try resoldering the vertical output IC. The IC along with the B+ feed resistor back in the sweep power supply is most probably bad or has a loose solder.
  3. Press the DEVICE and MENU buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold it for 5 seconds to activate the Error Code Operational Check. The status LED indicator will then flash denoting a two digit code.
  4. Count the number of flashes then pauses for about a half second then flashes again. The first number of flashes indicates the first digit of the error code and the second number of flashes indicates the second digit of the code. For example, if the error code is "24", the LED will flash 2 times, pauses, then flashes 4 times. The error code is repeated a total of 5 times. Error 24 indicates a vertical deflection circuit failure.
Please let me know the code you'll and I'll tell you where the problem lies and how to fix it.

I have a mitsubishi big screen tv model 55809 , as soon as i click on the television 2 seconds later it clicks off.

The model you have selected should have a self check feature: when turns off and the green power light goes off:

ON THE FRONT OF THE SET PRESS AND HOLD BOTH MENU AND INPUT together for at least 5 seconds and then release both buttons.

The power light should blink a two digit error code: for example: 2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks--it will repeat the code about 10 times.

error codes for this set:

1, then 2 no error detected
2, then 1 X-ray protection
2, then 2 short protection
2, then 3 deflection circuit problem
2, then 4 vertical deflection problem

2, then 2 is the most common and easiest to fix.

Let me know what you find and if 2,2 I have detailed instructions for repairing that kind of trouble.

I am here to help people.

Mitsubishi 50111

Run the diagnostics.

With the TV power cord plugged in, press the 'INPUT and 'MENU' buttons at the same time -- use the buttons on the front of the TV, NOT the buttons on the remote; a diagnostic Error Code Operational Check will begin, utilizing the 'POWER ON' LED (the green 'POWER ON' indicator light).

There will be a pattern of two sets of flashes, with a pause in bewteen flashes; this sequence of flashes will be repeated a total of five times.

The Error Code designations are listed below:

Error Code Description
12 No eror has occurred.
21 X-Ray Protect circuit.
22 Short Protect circuit.
23 Horizontal Deflection failure.
24 Vertical Deflection failure.

I hope this information helps.

Tv turns on then off

hold the menu and input buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. the tv will blink an error code
Error Code Probable Cause
12 Normal Operation - No Error Detected
21 X-Ray Protect
22 Short Protect - likely convergence IC failure
23 Loss of Horizontal Deflection
24 Loss of Vertical Deflection

Fast Blink for 70 sec. After AC is applied = Normal - DM μPC is booting up
Fast Blink (doesn't stop) After AC is applied = TV μPC is running, but DM failed to boot up
Slow Blink Set is Off = Normal - Timer is set for Automatic Turn ON

Vertical protect

1. MAY BE INTERMITTENT, SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK SOLDER CONNECTIONS AT CONNECTOR "DY" ON THE YOKES. 2. SHUTDOWN AT POWER WITH SELF-DIAGNOSIS ERROR 23 OR 24. CHECK C411 2200 UFD 35 V AND C412 10 UFD 50 V, BOTH LOCATED ON THE MAIN PCB.

Mitsubishi projecion tv 1995

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source) 1. Self-diagnosis error 2-3 indicating deflection failure. Check for shorted or leaky Q5A37 part # 260P818050 located on PCB-Main. If found defective replace only the transistor instead of the Main PCB.
