Sounds like the screen has gone out on your ipod. the white screen it what happens when all of the pixels have died. you need to contact apple and see if they will replace the screen. might be might cost more than if you were to buy a new ipod. probably better off to replace the ipod.

hope this helped
please rate well.

You would probably encounter less problems just replacing your iPod's HD with a new one.

RapidRepair sells them for $110 for an 80g, and their instructions are pretty good.

It looks like they might actually be interchangable, but in my experience 1st Gen Zunes have a lot of problems, especially with the batteries and HD's.

Ipod freezes when i go to connect it to my computer or charge

even if the screen is blank it definatly should charge, then enst thing i could recommend is to possibly reinstall the ipod firmware or if your daring enough to turn it into a rockbox. google rockbox and you will find that it is free ipod software that many people find better than apple's actual software.

Can't Download

My suggestion would be to put the iPod in "Disk Mode" and see if it mounts better.
Hold the menu and center button untill the apple logo appears.
then switch your fingers to the center button and the play/pause buttons until you see your in disk mode.
reattach your cable and it should be able to mount.

If your iPod does not mount, your could be having Hard Drive problems. In which case, I would restore the iPod and see if your iPod starts acting proper.

I have a 80g classic and it keeps rebooting to the apple logo

Listen to the back of the ipod. If you hear clicking then you have a bad hard drive that needs to be repaired.

Ipod 80g problem

Hey Sader201,

If your iPod has been freezing on the Apple screen, you may wish to try resetting your iPod by doing the following:

1) Slide the "Hold" switch to "On," and then "Off" again.

2) Press and hold the "Menu" and "Select" buttons at the tame time until the Apple logo appears. This may take six to eight seconds to happen, and you may need to repeat this step.

Resetting your iPod should retain all of your music and other files, but please keep in mind that you may lose some of your customized menu settings.

If a reset does not resolve the problem, I would strongly suggest visiting Apple's support database for more information through the link I've provided below.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron
