It's "possible" to use the 260 as a golf GPS unit, but it probably isn't going to be the golf tool the guy at the store promised.

1. There aren't any golf maps available for this unit, other than ones that have been created by users. 2. The 260 displays distance in feet or miles: is that a 5-iron? 3. The battery life is about 9 holes on the Nuvi series.

On the other hand, if you want to have a navigation GPS and also use it on the golf course, then you can check out the details on this website:
http://www.wideopenwest.com/~don_barger/nuvi-software.html

There are free maps for download and a web-based tool for creating your own golf maps.

How do I reste my golflogix

I had that a ways back. Go into your course manager, and click help, one of the options says restore. After you do that, reload your courses, and , get this, you have to leave the gps outside for 8 hours! Old gps, it has to manually build maps of satttelites. I did that once, and it fixed it, it happened again 6 months later, and it didn't fix it. They told me that it was dead, and had me mail it in to get a new gps8 for cheap.

Reboot for garmin golf logix

Restore unit bookmark

Go to the help button in the upper right hand corner of your course manager. There will be a bunch of questions that appear down

the right hand side. The bottom one should say How do I restore my golfgps. Press that, and press the button that comes up that

says restore. With the gps plugged in and turned on, it will quickly move to say that your gps has been restored. Press Ok, and

turn the gps off , count to five, and turn it back on. Reload your courses, and you should be good to go!

GolfLogix GPS Receiver: I have a golflogix 8 and I can not get beyond the ...

The cable can be a pain. It has to be slid all the way down to the very bottom of the socket on the gps, even when its tight, it might not be connected all the way. I usually wiggle it left and right while pushing it down.

My Golflogic reads the course but then I cannot scroll up to first hole.

Thats an easy one. Go into the course manager software where you load courses and press Help. Choose the option that says "how do i restore my unit" and then click restore. Plug in the GPS and turn it on. after it says its restored, turn it off, then back on (the gps, not the computer) and load your courses again. You should be good to go!
