Sending fax error message."Phone

No. Most of the time this "phone line error" can be caused by the telephone connection or issue on the phone line where the fax machine is connected.
Hope this will help.

The fax appears to dial the number successfully. The receiving fax is turned on. It apprears to try for a long time. The error report says "no answer."

It is not your fax line is the other party.did you try any other number?
Post back.

Solution one: Perform a fax line test Perform a fax line test to check whether the fax line is properly connected. Step one: Run a Fax Test
  1. Press the Setup button (c01395353.jpg ) on the product control panel.
  2. Use the Arrow keys (c01073166.jpg ) to select Service , select Fax Service , select Run Fax Test , and then press OK . The Fax Test prints.
    • If the report passes, try to resend the fax.
    • If the report fails with the message 'Fail - the phone line is not active,' plug the cable into a working telephone jack, and then try to resend the fax.
    • If the report fails with the message 'Fail - the cord is in the wrong port,' continue to 'Step two: Change the cable to the correct port.'
Step two: Change the cable to the correct port Make sure the telephone cable is inserted in the correct port. Remove the cord for the fax line from the port labeled with a telephone, and then insert it into the correct port. Figure 1: Fax portsc01756259.gif Scanner error message The message 'Scanner error ' displays on the product control panel while sending a fax. Solution: Check paper size This product only supports paper less than 381 mm (15 in). Use only letter, A4, or legal sized paper for sending faxes. To send this fax, copy or print the original document onto shorter paper, and then resend.

My brother mfc-490cw I can't send or recieve faxes.

According to the User's Manual for the Brother MFC-490CW:
  • Poor Line Connection indicates an issue with your telephone line (Page 136). If you are sharing the fax line with any splitters or computers, try connecting the MFC-490CW directly to the phone jack and send a fax. If you are still getting a Poor Line Connection error message, call the telephone company and have a repair technician check your telephone line.

  • Out of Memory error message means the machine's memory is full (Page 138).

Try pressing Stop/Exit and wait until all current operations finish and try again.

Try clearing the data in memory. To gain extra memory space. turn off Memory Receive (See Page 48).

Try printing the faxes that are in memory (See Page 49).

  • System Busy error message wasn't in the manual, but I suspect it means there's a current operation in progress and the machine needs time to finish before moving on to another job. Just wait for the current job to finish, then try again.

Error message says fax failure

Check your phone line to make sure you are connected. If this is a newly installed fax machine, make sure the fax application is downloaded.

OKIFAX 4580 - Comms error

Hi just a note to say first theing to check is that the phone line is connected at both ends to correct sockets and that the connector to teh fax unit is connected to the line socket and not the phone socket as this is the main cause of line errors.. Good luck you could also check to see of you need to dial 0 or 9 first before you dial your number as you ma y be on an exchange line.. also check the fax settings to see if you have set the line type correctly either pulse or tbx..

Error 4103

A loop current problem indicates that the phone line is not connected to your fax correctly, the cord is broken or where you have plugged into the wall is dead

Dynamode Internal Fax Modem 56K

i had same problem trying to receive faxes until i changed phone connections.

according to a motorola manual (link below) this has something to do with being connected to a "proper analog phone line".

i had the phone line running from wall to a newer gateway (maybe 8 months) dec 07 to a maybe 2 year old compaq. kept getting that loop current error on the compaq when trying to receive a fax until i elimated the gateway connection and plugged the wall right into the compaq.

here's a link that might help: http://downloadmirror.intel.com/12655/ENG/Motorola.htm

see section 6, troubleshooting. hope this helps...

No loop current

Check the line cable. Try inserting that line to another telephone unit. And if there's still no dial tone the problem is on the line itself. You should call your line provider. But if the line is ok, check the LIU connectors if it is inserted correctly. It the connectors are ok, then the possible problem is on the tel. line circuit on its mainboard.
