Data processing light keeps flashing in fax mode

Canon mf 4150. When I push the fax button and then push hook to get a dial tone I get a processing data light flashing. It seems a project is in the que but will not send it or clear it. The reset button does not solve the problem or a 15 min. power off reset.

Unplug your USB cable and the fax should start working. If this fixes the issue, it could be a problem with your USB cable or hardware.

I have a separate fax line for my Canon MX310. It goes into fax mode but noting happens. I also cannot receive faxes.

The only reason to call the phone company is if you're not getting a dial tone on that line. Otherwise, have you shut down the printer and tried to reset it to factory defaults. To do that, follow the instructions below:
  • 1 Switch the Canon MX310 off using the "Power" button, then push the "Stop/Reset" button on the control panel. Hold the button down for about five seconds.
  • 2 Push the "Power" button while holding "Stop/Reset." Hold down both buttons for five seconds.
  • 3 Release "Stop/Reset" while holding down the "Power" button.
  • 4 Push "Stop/Reset" twice while continuing to hold the "Power" button. Release the "Power" button. The power light will turn green.
  • 5 Once the light is steady green, push "Stop/Reset." Wait about three seconds and push it again. Wait three more seconds and push it one final time, for a total of three times. The power light will turn orange.
  • 6 Push the "Power" button, then lift the MX310 cover open.
  • 7 Remove both ink cartridges and wait 10 seconds. Replace the cartridges and close the MX310 cover. Wait 30 seconds.
  • 8 Push the "Power" button. Wait a few seconds to allow the printer to fully power down, then switch the Canon MX310 back on using the "Power" button.

Fax problem

I want to make sure I understand this completely. You get no dial tone from the fax machine when hooked up to VOIP. In the past, was there an audible dial tone from the fax, or did it just dial silently and give you an error if there was no tone? When you said you got a dial tone by connecting a phone to the ext phone port of "the machine" did you mean the fax machine? If you get a dial tone by running a phone through the fax machine, then the line is good. I have used a fax machine over Sunrocket before they went defunct, which used the same technology base as Vonage - so it should work. If you used to get an audible dial tone when using the fax, and no longer do, and you are geting a dial tone on a regular phone that is connected to the ext. port of the fax machine, then the problem has to be in the fax machine itself, not the VOIP. If you can verify that, we can go from there.

I have a Brother 775 intelli fax machine. I can't send a fax. After loading the document, when I go to push in the fax number, the numbers do not register. I unplugged the machine from the power and the...

Hi there!

For you to send a fax with the Brother Fax 775 you can try these steps:

1. First make sure that you have a dial tone by lifting the handset or just by pressing the hook button. Once you have verified you have a dial tone press the hook button again to return to the main screen or hang up the handset. LCD should display the date & time

If you don't have a dial tone make sure that the telephone line cord is connected on the fax machine's Line jack. If you don't have a dial tone still connect it to another working outlet. If you don't have a dial tone still connect a working telephone on the wall jack to see if you'll get a dial tone. If you get a dial tone on the regular phone then problem is either with the line cord or the fax machine.

2. Once you have the date & time on the LCD screen, Load the document that you want to send on the automatic document feeder which is directly above the LCD screen.

3. The LCD screen should change from the date/time to "Enter Fax No. & Press Start" Once you got this screen dial the fax number and then press Start.

Hope this helps. Rate if it works.

Thanks!

No fax tone giving if this fax mode only

Using "on hook" you should hear a dial tone, if you have one then dial a known good fax number. It could also be in manual receive mode. -Carl

Sending a fax

First make sure that the fax button has been pushed and is llit...

The 2820 should have a handset. In order to use manual transmission (when you get to hear all the beeps and whistles) you will need to load the document then pick up the handset. then dial the number, when you hear the recieving fax tone then hit the start button.

The 2820 should also have a hook hold button pressing this will allow you to hear the dial tone and the numbers you dial along with the receiving fax tone. If you dont hear anything when you press this button then you may want to use the volume buttons to increase the volume.

Also remember that if you have not picked up the handset or pressed he hook/hold button the unit will use automatic mode, which is to say that all you will do is load the document, dial the number, and then press the start button.

Won't send faxes

did you put the originals page(s) in the machine FIRST to fax, then enter the number then press start?
If you enter the phone number 1st BEFORE putting your originals in the feeder, the machine thinks you want to make a copy.
The FAX Mode is the setting for incoming faxes.
Try that and let me know if it works.
There should also be a button called "Hook" or "speaker" or something that you hit and you will hear the dial tone.
Once you hear the dial tone, you can dial the number, (make sure the pages you want to fax is in the feeder.
Once you hear the fax high pitch noise, hit the start button.
Hope this helps.
Let me know if it does and also remember to leave a feedback and rating if I have helped you.
Thanks and good luck.
Mac =)
