SOURCE: cmos password reset

You can get around this however it's not to easy. You would have to take the unit apart and locate the BIOS chip, this chip needs to pulled out, aswell as removing the CR2032 battery which stores time and date on the computer. Leave both of these removed for a few minutes and re-install. This should wipe the password out. Like I said though it's not something that's easily done. Good Luck Hope this helps. L8R

I have Lenovo ThinkPad R61 labtop and password is request for bios the password is POP power on password i remove the battry but the problem is still

To reset bios password on laptop, you must remove CMOS battery, not the regular one.

CMOS battery is ussualy located "under the hood" on the motherboard, so you must disassemble notebook.

Here is how CMOS battery look.

Problems booting

I have seen this case already in a HP notebook system also. This is what i'll suggest you do. If you are good at P C repair you could take apart the system carefully and try and reset the CMOS battry. In must case the battry could be old. Memory and Hard Disk could also be a factor.

Bios password

The master password for Compaq is "compaq"
If that doesn't work you need to use a jumpe on the motherboard:
This Jumper is often named like: "RTC_CLEAR" , "CLEAR CMOS" , "CLRCMOS" , "CLRCMS". His position is often near by the motherboard battery. You will need to reconfigure any BIOS changes that you have done.
