Samsung prostar 816 plus system ringing problem

I have a samsung prostar 816 plus system. The system was working fine until one day an alarm went off, which was coming from one of our guest rooms. We were able to disarm the alarm but now two of our office phones will not ring when there is an incoming call. The main phone which is on DSS 1 is the only office phone that will actually ring. On the other two office phones you can see that there is a call because the light will blink but there is no ring. There is a cordless phone attached to one of the two office phones that are not working and the cordless is not even getting a dial tone. Also, the room that the alarm was coming from can now not receive calls from any of the main receivers.

Sounds like your having a couple of problems at the same time. the lines only ringing at station 1 is the default setting of the system my guess is that the time and date are also way off if thats the case.
To change the ringing on a prostar 816 you first need to be at a display set (doesn't matter what the extension number is).
with the handset down enter #20 the screen should say MMC DISABLED
1) enter in 1 2 3 4 1 # (that enables programming)
2) enter in #62 the screen should say day ring assn
3) press the line you wish to program
4) press the buttons for the extensions that you wish to ring (the ones in the right next to the handset)
5) press # when finished with the line
6) repeat steps 2 through 5 for the remainder of the lines you wish to change
press #when finished.

next, the problem with the cordless not working has to do with the port programming, in default it assigns all ports as multiline sets.
To assign a SLT(single line telephone) port to the system while still in program mode dial #38 the screen should say slt dial type and then 16 0's.
0 = keyset 1=slt set
enter in all 16 digits followed by the # i.e.if your cordless is on port 7 it would look like 0000001000000000 #
lastly the phone that can no lnger recieve calls sounds like the do not disturb or DND has been pressed to stop the alarm from ringing. press the mute/dnd button (light should be off). to cancel an alarm press the ALM/SD button twice and then the hold button.
hope that helps out.

I have a prostar samsung 816 plus and we have a number of phones in the office and only one is ringing, how can I make them all ring? I have followed the instructions in the manual and the following...

Hi, have you checked that the number is ringing at a group? to do this enter customer programming;
TRSF 200
1234
1 to enable
press your speaker key
enter 714

The screen will display;

DID DGT (001)

DGT : XXXXX

Press the volume key until you get to the number you wish to program, when you have reached this press the 3rd soft key under the screen (TAB) until you get to the DDI Destination which will display:

1 : XXX 2 : XXX

Enter the extension number OR the group number which you want this DDI to ring at. (1= day ring plan , 2= night ring plan, unless other ring plans are in place on the system )

Once you have put the group in you need to go to 601 to enter all extensions into that group. If you visit http://www.abbeytelecom.com there are easy to follow videos covering a wide range of programming issues on the Samsung phone systems, I have uploaded one which I think will help, regards

Some of the buttons don't work and the Hold function doesn't work

The Prostar 816 phone system can only use Prostar 816 phones. There is a rare larger Prostar system that can use other Prostar phones along with the 816 but typically was only installed in situations where more than 16 phones were needed. If you are looking at non-prostar phones like the Samsung DCS 12 then they certainly will not work.
