It depends on how long you switched on.
*check to make sure that the switch is transmitting electricity if not...
*from my experience with kettles you will need a new element*Depending on the kind of kettle you are using check the power cable and the base of the kettle to make that there is contact between the kettle and the power cable.

SOURCE: kettle gets heavy white residue on inside after a couple uses. we do not ever let it stand with water inside.

Cheapest fix is to use white vinegar to disolve the building up of limestone hardness in your water. I am certain that you find it difficult to get soap to lather well, you have a bathtub ring every time you take a bath, your towels and sheets are stiff and scratchy and your lower legs itch terribly especially in the winter. You have very hard water and you need a water softener. Find a Certified Water Specialist in your Yellow Pages.

Why won't our BOSCH TWK8633 stay switched on?

You don't say how old your kettle is, but if it is less than 1 month, I would go back to the retailer where you purchased. Make sure you have your guarantee or proof of purchase.... Otherwise, going by past experience, kettles that won't stay switched on usually need de-scaling. Even if you can't see any lime scale in the kettle, there are sediments in the water that will build up over time & that can cause the element to overheat. This makes the kettle switch off prematurely or not switch on at all. In the UK, regardless of where you live, you should de scale your kettle at least once a month. If this doesn't work, you should still go back to the retailer, but if it's found that the malfunction uis diue to lack of de-sclaing, this isn't usually covered by the warranty....good luck!

How do i clean my glass kettle from lime scale

try vinegar neat white or brown its less corrosive than the branded descalers which do work quicker i admit but my kettle started to leak
because of these strong cleaners now i use vinegar its cheap.
place 500 ml to 1 litre in kettle switch on just warm vinegar and switch off leave in for 30 minutes swilling round empty and you can keep in a bottle and repeat every month if you wish or use in cleaning solution if you don't want to waste it look on internet 1,000 ways to use vinegar.
wash kettle with copious amounts of water inside and then use kettle cleaned and sparkling

Breville tea kettle won't turn on

anon.nick-20625 was right.

Opened the bottom of the kettle, not the charging base, using the three odd screws.

Found the white trip switch, which was a white line in the socket which connects the kettle to the charging base. Pressed it with a screwdriver and it came out more. Tested the kettle, works!

I have a Cuisinart CPK17 won't heat water and all the blue lights are flashing

I had the same issue with all lights blinking, but nothing else working (buttons would not respond or beep). I took the base off and used a small pair of pliers to bend the contact as Scott Cowen mentioned. Worked like a charm.

Gold medal 2404 won't heat

Double check that the kettle is plugged into cabinet.
Does the Switch light up? if not it is the switch is bad.
If it does, than either it is the kettle lead wires, or themostat, or the heat element that is bad. In that order.

Aroma AWK-161 Water Kettle not turning on

A power outage happened and all of a sudden Aroma kettle was not turning on. I tried different outlets that I knew worked... nothing. So, problem was certainly the kettle. I gave some good sold raps to the base of the kettle and then some to the base that plugs into wall. Walla! The kettle is now working. I pray it continues. And, from now on I'm unplugging base after each use :)

Automatic switch off not working when water reached boiling.

There is no do it yourself fix for this problem. However, placing a folded cloth on top of the kettle (covering the spout) will cause it to switch off quicker, as it increases the pressure inside the kettle.
