Dryer won't work-looks like no power

I turned on my dryer today & it started working like normal but several minutes later I went in & it had stopped. There are no lights on and appears to not be getting any power. I have checked all breakers & unplugged it without any luck. Any other ideas of how to fix it?

Gain access to the inside and the wiring of the machine.
First, check the wires with a meter and see if electricity is even getting to the 3 or 4 wire "buss bar" where the electric cord attaches from the wall to inside the machine.
If all that tests OK, then take an ohm-meter or a multi-meter and begin testing each of the "fire-protection" circuits.
You may find as many as 6 thermal switches, and as many as 3 fuses.
Unplug each one you test, and test it with the ohm-meter for continuity.
The one that shows no continuity is your problem.
God bless your efforts.

It sounds like you have an issue with your PassLock security system. I had the same with my 2002 Impala. Key turns OK, but won't start, won't crank. Wait 20-30 minutes, and car starts normally. There is usually a clue from the Battery and Security lights.
The problem starting to happen once a month, and eventually 1-2 times a week.
There are several write-ups on this problem for several GM cars for 2000-2006(?). Search this website, and search the web.
The official solution is to replace the ignition switch. The best solution is to bypass the Pass Lock system. I went ahead and did a full bypass, which involves cutting wires and adding resistors to the ignition circuit. I have not had a problem since.

Maytag 3000 Series front load gas dryer (Whirlpool) - No lights, no digital display, not able to turn on or start. Yes, unit is plugged in to AC outlet. Yes, AC voltage is good at 120V. Yes, circuit...

OK everyone, my ears are red. Over the weekend, I gave this another shot, since my warranty repair appointment isn't until next week.

I opened the dryer door (the drum light is off, indicating no power at all) and went to the circuit breaker box, and flipped the washer/dryer breaker back to off and then re-set the breaker again.

When I got to the laundry room - the drum light was on!

So I powered up the unit, and ran the machine. It ran for about one minute, and then went off. So I went back and re-set the breaker again.

Visually, the breakers did NOT LOOK tripped - but flipping the thing off and then on to re-set the breaker worked.

This time, the dryer is working fine. The bad part is: I need to replace the breaker for the second time. So this is NOT a defective dryer, it is a bad electrical supply. I will call the electrician back to make him fix this right. . . . .

Thanks again for all who responded. This is a new unit, purchased on 7/7/2009.
