Lexicon Omega stutters during playback (Mac OSX 10.5)

Recently, when using my Lexicon Omega with Propellerhead's Reason software, the audio playback began to stutter and sounded distorted, particularly on the low end. Higher frequencies have not seemed to be so adversely effected. No matter how I've toyed with the buffer size and latency compensation, the sound has not been effected even in the slightest. I'm completely in the dark here. Also, I installed Audacity and imported an MP3 file. Had the same issue at first. Quit Audacity, set the Omega to handle all of my computer's output. Played the MP3 file in Preview (Finder), and it played perfectly. Opened Audacity and played the MP3 with no problems. I tried restarting Reason with the settings as they were and got ZERO audio. Oh, I've also followed the steps to reset my Lexicon Omega, to no avail. Alas! I'm starting to feel a little discouraged here. I'm not sure what my next step should be. anyone experience this before? Is it due to a lack of RAM? Is there some setting I'm overlooking?

SOURCE: Lexicon Omega USB on new HP Dual core laptop pc running vista 4GB Ram

You said the magic phrase premiume HOME computer...
and the key word VISTA.
I've heard of VISTA pro running this but the home version is really not that robust for the type of gear you have there.
vista just has to many bugs.
go back to xp pro sp2 for good results.
good luck

Haven't used my lexicon omega in years, cant find the serial number.is there away to get it from Lexicon? Or any other place?

tell why you need the SN, it is out of warranty or the software app for it asks for SN?????
no PC told nor OS told.
no context told (why do you ask, MISSING)

Lexicon produced an expensive PCI card/breakout box combo dubbed the Studio back in 1998 (reviewed SOS July 1998

You don't even need to install drivers with Mac OS X: the Omega integrates right away with Core Audio (as long as you're using Mac OS 10.2.8 or above).

lost the 1998 software bundle CD???? OOBE lost now?
it runs w2k and XP

support is here.
https://lexiconpro.com/en-US

the review is here.
https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/lexicon-omega

connect power and usb to the below jack.
then in windows (is it windows. gee)
load the CD bundle software.
and go to device manager. (XP?)
then there, find the LEX line. off USB.
then at the LEX entry right click it and pick Properties and then, click tab details and all Ids
there to find serial if lucky.

Reason Software produces sound through your computers sound card & speakers, but your system must meet the minimal system requirements listed below:

Mac OS X

Instructions to install ASIO driver if required:
download installer from this link:

double click the installer & follow instructions, please ensure you restart your computer after installation.

Whilst playing back a song reason stops for a second then resums playback, very annoying as we're using it for backing during live performances

Make sure you do NOT have ANY antivirus/antispam/antiadware OR network links active. These high priority programs will steal the processor to do their scheduled tasks and your audio will get overrun. All such programs need to be removed or killed while running audio programs. Another problem can be caused if your disk is getting errors and it has to do retries to recover the data.

Hello i opened my lexicon omega and the cd wont download, i have tried a number of things but it keeps coming up with stienberg softwear, i have registered but the lexicon omega will still not load onto...

The software is by Stienberg and is called "Cubase" that is delivered with the Lexicon. The Omega doesn't really have any software to speak of except for the drivers. Browse the software disk looking for the section containing the drivers. When you install it, it will create a Lexicon folder with the root of your C drive and in it will be an Omega folder. In that is a driver folder and a folder of help files. In the Driver folder folder you will find the installer file "Omega Setup". Launch that program to install the drivers. Please note I have one of these and it can be frustrating to get things working. Make sure in the PC in the control panel "sounds and devices" that under the tabs that the Omega is the device to send and receive and for voice. Once you have done the install, the Omega should be in the list of available devices to select as default.

I have a lexicon omaga drive but when i hook it up its like i need a 64 bit driver

Don't know what OS you're running. Omega has published drivers for Vista and 7 64-bit versions. They say they don't support XP 64, but when I hooked my unit up to my computer and the hardware install wizard came up the OS found and installed Microsoft published general USB audio device drivers for all inputs, midi, and mac USB channels of the Omega, and automatically set it as my default device. I hooked headphones into the Omega unit and could hear system sounds. So far so good. Went to My Music and fired up an audio file. Windows Media Player started up and the song started playing but I couldn't hear anything. Opened the same file with Audacity, could see the VU meters bouncing, but still no sound in my headphones. Went in to the preferences of Audacity, and manually set the speaker default to the Omega mac USB device. Hit play again and voila! I had sound. Closed the file, started WMP manually, went in to options, and again set the speaker default to Omega mac USB. Opened the same audio file and this time it played just fine. The driver files Windows used for my card were
C:\\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\ksproxy.ax, C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\ks.sys, C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\ksthunk.sys,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\portcls.sys,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\stream.sys,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\USBAUDIO.sys,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\ksproxy.ax,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\ksuser.dll,
C:\\WINDOWS\System32\wdmaud.drv,
all version 5.2.3790.1830
Hope this helps everybody else with this problem.

Omega Studio won't record to computer

The omega is like an external sound card. It has to be connected via your computer with a device driver, the software that came with the lexicon. Then you record on a software program such as Cubase.
Go to the guitar center for more help or go to google .com and type in lexicon omega. Lots of sights to look for answers or better yet go to lexicon omega's home site.

One day I turned it on, loaded the software. Error message...

This product is JUNK. An associate of mine advised me to purchase this piece. It worked less than six months. Now the unit is fourteen months old. Lexicon said they'd be happy to have me return it along with a money order, certified check or credit card number because the charge would be $75.00 flat to either repair mine and send it back to me, or replace the entire unit.

The associate who advised me to purchase this piece of gear works on microcircuits each day in his line of work. He uses microscopes to examine his work. One day when his Omega quit working, he opened it up on his bench where he identified numerous cold-solder joints. He repaired them and the unit worked for about three months before becoming unstable. He opened it up a second time and noticed all the jacks were starting to get loose.

At that point, be became aware of the $75.00 option with Lexicon. Instead, he deposited his Omega into the dumpster behind his place of employment. Today, his unit is a part of the landfill in Dallas, Texas.

LEXICON ABSOLUTELY KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEMS WITH THE OMEGA. LEXICON SHOULD REPLACE THE UNITS AT NO COST; CONSUMER PAYS SHIPPING IS FINE WITH ME. TWENTY YEARS AGO, LEXICON BUILT RUGGED AND DEPENDABLE GEAR. IT IS TOO BAD THEIR FINE NAME IS ON SUCH A PIECE OF ****. I'M AFRAID I'M DONE WITH LEXICON, FOREVER. IT WOULD BE TOO DIFFICULT TO CONSIDER PURCHASE OF ANYTHING WITH THE NAME ON IT.
