SOURCE: too change rotation of a 5hp 230 volt

HAVE A LOOK INSIDE THE MOTOR CONNECTION BOX. SOMETIMES ON THE LID ARE INSTRUCTIONS OF HOW TO DO THIS. YOU DID NOT SAY IF THIS WAS A CAPACITOR START UNIT OR NOT. IF THERE IS A CAPACITOR ON THERE IT COULD BE NO GOOD WHICH WILL MAKE THE MOTOR GO WHERE IT WANTS. A GOOD CAPACITOR KICKS IT IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION ON SWITCH ON.

SOURCE: I need to build a single phase to three phase

You will need a rotary converter for this, or a single phase motor. A three phase motor absolutely cannot be made to run on single phase otherwise.

SOURCE: I wish to rewire a single phase electric motor

The motor itself should have a sticker which describes the wiring for 115. It is a small change involving a single wire moving from one pole to another inside the motor starter cap (the bump on the motor itself).

Phases are irrelevant. A motor is made for a specific speed and for a single voltage. It can be made to be 1,200 RPM or 10,000 RPM depending on the windings and the magnets. The information plate on the motor will tell you the specifications, voltage, phase, amps and speed.

How to reverse a IR 2hp compressor motor from cw to ccw

Either the run or start windings must be wired opposite the existing configuration. Single (split) phase motors for compressors typically don't bring out the taps to allow reversal. Check the name plate as it will likely say non reversible.

I have a 1 1/2 hp 230/110 marathon single phase motor controlled by forward reversing starters with 24 volt controlled. How do I wire this motor up for for/rev ???

You need to determine at which voltage you will run this motor. A motor starter mechanically and electrically interlocked for F & R. with 24v transformer, a SS and FR station. This is expensive but sweet, needs room for this equipment.
The easy budget is by using a drum switch.
The motor nameplate or splice box cover will hand the info on how to connect the motor for either voltage and for CW and CCW rotation.
The magnetic motor starter also will include a wiring diagram.

I have a Ingersoll Rand Compressor model# 2545E10V 10 HP,3 phase and I would like to convert it to a signle phase. would this motor here be good to go with and what other items will be needed to complete...

It might. Mounting holes match? Shaft diameter and adapter match? Power supply sufficient for 5HP motor? It's a big motor! You might get a better answer from the ebay supplier.

How to reverse rotation of single phase, 1/2 HP, 110V electric motor.

Changing the "polarity" of the start winding by swapping the wires over should reverse the direction. Lots of online motor-related generic and manufacturer information is available.

Hi, I have an old IR Type 30, two-stage compressor, model #: V242 N3. The current motor is 3hp, 1 ph,1740 rpm and may need to be replaced. Is it safe to use a full-speed, i.e., 3450 rpm motor on this...

no you need to use a compressor duty motor same rpm using a higher rpm motor will shorten the life of the motor if you have 3 phase power even better single phase motors aren't as efficient and run much hotter and dont last very long on air compressors
