My usb hub does not load any drivers

Plug the device you are trying to use in a rear USB port. Does it work? If not, then you will probably need drivers for the device, not the USB port.

Hi there, It sounds like your problem is that you haven't hooked up your front USB ports to your motherboard. If you open up your computer case, you should notice some cables coming down from the front USB ports. Those cables need to be attached to USB headers on your motherboard. You should check out your motherboards manual to see where the pins for the USB headers are, and then hook up the cable. My guess would be that no USB device works via the front panel, but after hooking up these cables all devices, including your external hard drive, will. If you need more help/clarification, let me know please! Alex

The current motherboard for my desktop compaq presario s4010om can only hold 1 gig. I would like to know if there are other motherboards out there with the same dimensions and upgradeable to at least 2...

Compaq's use proprietary hardware, and sometimes even their connectors don't match the standard motherboards. That's how they get people to come back to them for parts.Sell the tower and put the money towards a new unit.
You can get faster computers with 3-4 GB. memory, and high-capacity hard drive for $300-$600 from Dell :

http://www.dell.com/us/p/desktops

or from Wal-mart:

I have uc-280 speakers. Im trying to hook up to my lap top in usb. I dont get sound out of them. Do i need a disk to down load?

Hello,

You have to plug in both the USB and audio cable into your PC.
It won't work if you don't have a USB 2.0 powered hub or port/slot.

I hope this helps.

I need to replace that front usb ports on my compaq Presario s4020wm Can they be replaced

I think it would be much easier for you to use a USB hub instead.
It's much more easily available .

You can connect the hub to one of the rear USB ports

How do you hook in the front usb plugs into a asus motherboard?

You need a separate cable, called a USB header. It plugs to the connector in the case and onto your motherboard. A lot harder to find that you would think too, my top ports still are not hooked up after several years.

Usb

If you see something wrong with the device everytime you plug in something to the USB hub doesn't necessarily mean that the hub is defective but it may actually mean that the device may not be receiving enough power to make it work. As we all know USB a device that may or may not have its own power but at least we know its working when by check the light indicator on the device or checking in device manager and that is an indication that it may or may not work with a hub and may need to be directly connected. If device you hook up is working with direct connection try isolating it by hooking it up from one port on the hub to the other this may actually help you out determining if there is defective port on the hub otherwise you got a lemon any may to return the product as well consult with them which product have they tested that actually worked with it.

Usb shortage

There's a photo of your motherboard here: http://www.techspot.com/reviews/hardware/abit_vt6x4/ You see the part labeled "USB header for two extra USB channels." That is where you'd connect any additional USB ports. When you say you have two ports on the front of the stack, I assume you mean on the front of your computer case? Front mounted USB are handy, and just about standard on most cases. Just connect the cable from them to that connector and you should be ready to go. If you're not sure which way to connect it, just try one - you won't break anything by connecting it backwards (you'll just have to switch it to get them to work).
