Sounds like a bad switch to me. The can and do fall apart inside. Springs, sliding contacts and the parts that make the circuit.

there is a blockage in the carb. you really need to pull it apart and clean, use carb cleaner which is a water repellant if available. i am presuming petrol is flowing from fuel pipe ok.

You'll need to disconnect the fuel line at the front of the carburator. Disconnect the vacuum line at the back of the carburator going to the brake booster. Label and remove the vacuum hoses. Unplug the mixture control solenoid connector, the TPS connector and the connector to the automatic choke. Unbolt the 4 13mm bolts holding the carburator to the intake and remove the carburator.

one of the cause for not run right is dirty fuel filter or your carburator need to be clean in that case remove carburator and cleaned inside with carburator cleaner and try again

you can buy on any auto parts carburator cleaner. And make sure you have a clean filter inside the fuel tank use a little hanguer or any kind of wire for catch the filter be careful came loose easy some times. Cleaned with carburator cleaner and let dry or use air. another think is could be yor carburator is dirty inside in that case you need to remove the cover and remove the 2 screws. Mark your lines top and bottom them removed, now remove carefully the carburator be careful with the gasket remove the 4 Little screws and remove carefully the black Gasket spray carburator cleaner inside the holes and line tubes. Second remove the 1 Big screw on the other side of the carburator be carefull with the gasket spray carburator cleaner and do the step for installed

remove the carburator sediment bowl just on the underside of the carburator and see how much sediment is in the bowl,if theres a lot you may need to flush out the carburatror to rid it of these contaminents,also pull out the choke part way when it wants to die,if this keeps it running,this also is an indication of a dirty carburator restricting fuel flow through carburator to the engine intake,sometimes if you can keep it running,spray some carburator cleaner into the throat opening of the carburator and see if this helps

If it has been in storage for some time it may have water in the fuel due to condensation in the tank, if so remove old fuel from tank and lines and refill with fresh fuel
