Load humming sound when water is pimping during wash cycle. Is that indicative of someting in the pump. If so, can you get to it from inside the dishwasher?Load humming sound when water is pimping during wash cycle. Is that indicative of someting in the pump. This sounds like the same noise, i.e. buzzing/humming after the start of the wash cycle, but goes quiet once the rinse cycle starts. Dishes still come out clean. Thought it was hard debris caught in the trap, but not. Ruled that out anyway. Re: LOUD HUMMING AFTER WATER FILLS AT START OF CYCLE
Sounds like you have something in the sump/motor. I could lead you through it on a chat session but too much just to type. Let me know if you would like me to do so.

hi
I suggest that if the machine does have a hot fill intake that you connect this because this will insure long life to the electric element you will be saving money as you already have hot water and this might rectify the problem
That is a normal sound when the transmission shifts from the last spin cycle to go into the agitate cycle. It should make a loud click sound that does not last longer than a second. There is nothing wrong with your washing machine.
If you think it's only during the fill (20-30 seconds at the end of the cycle), it's probably the fill solenoid. If it were me, I'd let it go a couple of weeks and see if it quiets down on its own. There's nothing harmful about a solenoid humming, and you may find that better is the enemy of good when you wade into trying to fix it.
If you can't live with the noise, I'd suggest replacing the entire valve body and solenoid as a unit - you never know which part may be the source of the problem. It's only 2 water connections and 2 wires. You can buy the part online for $20 or less.
Hi There,
Check to see that the belt is being driven by the motor when it goes into the wash cycle. Let me know if this helps and thank you for using FixYa!
When trouble shooting anything you have to know what is supposed to do and what is it not doing.
At the begining of a washing machine cycle the machine fills with water until a switch is made telling the machine it is full and ready to agitate. Since it never fills it will stick in that part of the cycle.
When you start a cycle and no water enters the drum you have one of three problems:
1. The water supply is shut off.
2. The solenoid valve that supplies the water is not opening.
3. No power to the washing machine.
Since you are hearing a hum, the machine seems to be trying to activate that valve,
The humming noise comes from the electromagnetic field that activates the valve,
Check the water pump for an obstruction in the chamber area, your pump may be sticking and that will cause the buzzing sound. The water pump runs during the fill portion of the cycle on several of the selected wash cycles to recirculate the water.
