1. PH relay board (REYB/PH)
2. Printer control board (PRCB)
3. PH unit
4. Imaging unit
Recommend you get a tech out to look at this problems
Print head (PH) contains the LASER. Printer Control Board $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. PH/ REYB?PH board ALSO $$$$$$$$$. Again have tech come out look at this machine.
if marks are repeating themselves (same each time) it is your imaging unit if marks are random sorry to say it is your imaging unit However if it is a continuous line or shadow you might have an obstruction in the laser light path best to insert new new unit and go from there. You can always exchange back to the old unit
C2255 is the code for Color Developer Unit motor's failure to turn. This is usually caused by at least one of the Color Imaging Unit's being locked up or very hard to turn. If you are trying to fix this yourself then I would pull the Imaging Units out one at a time and check them against each other to see if one turns harder than the others. Note that there are 2 things to turn on the Imaging Unit. The Drum and the Developer section.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

Black Imaging Unit failure • All density readings taken from the density pattern produced on the Transfer Belt are 0.5 g/m2 (IDC Sensor photoreceiver output) or less during max. density adjustment (Vg/Vdc adjustment). • All density readings taken from the density pattern produced on the Transfer Belt are 4.5 g/m2 (IDC Sensor Photoreceiver output) or more during max. density adjustment (Vg/Vdc adjustment.)
Remove and reset the Black Image Unit. If this doesn't help the Image Unit may need to be replaced.
The C531 uses 4 toner cartridges and 4 corresponding imaging units. Each imaging unit has a waste compartment for the residue toner not transferred to the Image Transfer Belt (the waste bottle is for waste from this ITB). The residue toner could be reused.
It does not sound right that after 3-4K pages you have to change the IU. Just to be sure the IU you replaced looks like this?
.
Each IU should last about 50K pages (ie to be replaced after 5 toner cartridges).
