Sure, if you wish to wire them all together, wire the first dual voice coil subs first voice coil negative to 2nd voice coil positive, second voice coil negative to single voice coil sub positive, and single voice coil negative to 2nd dual voice coil subs 1st voice coil positve (again with the second dual voice coil sub, run the first voice coil negative to the 2nd voice coil positve) your speaker leads will be attatched to first dual voice coils 1st voice coil positive, and 2nd dual voice coils 2nd voice coil negative)

What is the difference between 12" Infinity-Watkins Dual-Drive woofer and Infinity Watkins Dual Voice Coil 12" woofer #85140178 for Quantum 2,3,4,5 QLS. Can I use Infinity Watkins Dual Voice Coil 12"

Watkins woofers are not a normal dual voice coil woofer. They are designed to be used with a special crossover that when one coil starts rolling off due to rising impedance the other takes over to extend the bass frequencies lower. vauygorgxmaaaaaasuvork5cyii=

Can i power 2 12 subs a rockford punch z and a xplode with this amp i found all this **** in my garage and i need to know if it will power all this

First of all. Using two different kinds of sub woofers, is not an option, as these two sub woofers have different specifications and you should never mix sub woofers. Now the better choice from the 2, would probably be the Rockford. (cant be sure without knowing the models, power handling is also a factor in how well either of the sub woofers will play, but Rockford as a rule makes better sub woofers than Sony does) In my opinion, both the sub woofers deserve a better amplifier than what Boss has to offer. However to connect either of these sub woofers, you would need to determine how many voice coils it has and how many OHM the voice coil/s are. If it is a DVC (dual voice coil) and each voice coil is 4 OHM or 2 OHM, then you can connect one voice coil to one channel of the amplifier and the other voice coil to the other channel of the amplifier. If it is a DVC 2OHM you can also connect it wired in Series/Series to give a 4OHM load and should be connected to the BRIDGE dedicated speaker outputs of your amplifier. If it is a SVC (single voice coil) and it is 4 OHM, then you can connect the sub woofer to the designated speaker outputs of your amplifier that states BRIDGE. DO NOT run the amplifier in BRIDGE mode at 2 OHM as this will probably damage the amplifier. dreamsystems

I cant sem to wire it to 4 ohms because the terminals are right next to each other and i have no clue which 1 is which voice coil?

test with a digital multimeter set to ohms. if you don't have one of those laying around grab a 9 volt battery and run wires from the 2 terminals on the battery to 2 of the terminals on the woofer. if the woofer pops out you are said to be "in phase" (even though it has more to do with polarity that phasing but regardless) which means the positive from the battery is on the positive of the woofer and the negative is to the negative. those 2 terminals on the woofer are a single coil and obviously the other 2 terminals are the 2nd coil. now depending on what impedance each coil is will determine how you have to wire it to be 4 ohms unless they are 4 ohm coils which means you just use one coil and it will be 4 ohms on that woofer.

I have 2 positives and 2 negatives on back of my alphasonik sub, do i connect amp to one side or both sides?

Hello gaz69,

Your PSW815 has 2 ohm dual voice coils allowing you to better match the impedance to your amp. Each voice coil is 2 ohms. If you wire them in parallel (both +'s together and both -'s together and then to the amp terminals), the sub presents a 1 ohm load which is too low for most amps. Wiring the voice coils in series (one + to the other - and the remaining + and - to the amp terminals) results in a 4 ohm load.

This link shows the wiring diagram for both options. If you know for sure that your amp is 1 ohm stable, use Wiring Option #1. If the amp is not 1 ohm stable, use Wiring Option #2.

Hope this helps.

Hooking up the speakers

Well, this means you have dual voice coil subs. These subs are for running one sub in stereo mode( meaning you can hook up a right and a left channel to one speaker). In your case you are using 2 subs, which all you have to do is run a jumper wire from one side of the sub to the other. Take your (+) and hook it up on the (+)on one side of the sub and take your (-) and hook it up on the (-) on the other side and run a wire from the remaining post to the other. And do the same thing on the other sub.

One of the negative wires came of the coil? the woofer has 4spring loaded terminals? is it still good?

Your woofer has 4 terminals because it is a dual voice coil woofer. It has two electrically seperate coils wound together. This can be used two ways. If you have one woofer only and a two channel amp, each channel can be fed to its own voice coil on the woofer. The other way would be to wire them in parallel to get a 2 ohm impedance or in series to get an 8 ohm impedance or just use one coil to get a 4 ohm impedance. If the negative broke off of one the other should still be good. This would usually be 4 ohm for each coil. The other broken coil can be repaired but it would require removal of the surround and spider from the frame and if you have never done this before it isn't recommended you try it. If you are running a dual channel amp you may want to bridge it to one channel if you are to use one woofer with one coil only. If you have a pair of woofers, use one coil on the other as well since the loads(Ohms) should be equal to each other.

How should I wire my 3 subs to the 500/1 amp???????

First of all how many ohm's are each subwoofer rated at . Are the subwoofers dual voice coil or single voice coil. Once I know that I can help you. I think the JL amp is not recommended below a 2ohm load.

Amp cuts off...

Are the woofers single or dual voice coil?

How many ohms per coil?

If they are dual voice coil, are the coils for each speaker wired in series or parallel?

Are the speakers connected directly to the amp or are the speaker in series (one wire from each speaker connected to the amp?

Have you checked the DC voltage at the amp when you're playing it at high volume (where it cuts off)?
