Want to copy on both sides of paper
If your printer does not have a duplex unit then the printer cannot print double sided pages automatically.
You can print double sided pages but you have to do it one page at a time.
First print Page 1 then place the page back into the paper tray, but turn the page upside down and the print Page 2.
Then print page 3 on one side then page 4 on the other side and repeat for the rest of the document.
I suggest you try a test page first, to get the printing the right way up on both sides of the page so it reads correctly.

Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Open HP Solution Center, click on Settings, click on Scan Preferences,
select "Scan both sides of original when using duplex feeder."
or
Open Solution Center, click on Scan Document, and you should have a
check box towards the bottom of the window which would say 'scan both
sides of the original document'. check that box and start scanning.

You just select 2-sided printing in the print dialog box. I think it's on the finishing tab. I'm assuming you aren't trying to print on 2nd side of pre-printed stock. That would be a different issue.
