I have a Panasonic KX-TD7895 cordless phone. The volume is so low that I often can't hear the conversation. Hitting the volume button does not resolve the problem. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Just a wild guess: the speaker. Did someone drop it, by any chance?

You can turn the volume up using arrow up key on your Panasonic phone. To do this you must be on the phone. While in conversation using the phone, push arrow up key several times to increase the volume form the phone. It will not work if the phone is not in use.

if the handset is out of battery I'd keep looking. The panasonic KX does not have an emergency battery reserve for finding the phone

sounds as though there is a problem with the speaker phone portion of the phone make sure you are not touching the button during the call. sounds as though you hitting that button during the call

Seriously, what happens when you plug a regular phone directly into the outside lines? Or, better yet, plug a regular phone into jack 01 and TURN OFF THE POWER on the phone sytsem.
Now you have a phone wired to the outside line. If you can hear on those, then you may have a line current issue, or something else. If you can't, the telco is obligated to give you a line you can hear on. If they can't deliver, try an alternative like Vonage.

we have the same phones, the volume can be adjusted using the key pad but only slightly the hearing overall with this phone is not so great you end up straining half the time to hear the conversation

If you were using this unit and it was functioning, then most likely the handset has gotten damaged, and you would need to send the handset and base into repair (its not programming setting or a field servicable problem). If your testing this unit for the first time, the base may not "match" the handset. You can tell if they match by looking at the code on the little white sticker on the bottom of the base, and it must match the code on the sticker on the handset which is under the battery. So if they match, and they still will not communicate with eachother not much can be done until its put on a diagnostics and testing. You can google kx-td7895 repair to find a facility. Good luck
