Compaq sr1902uk network adapter driver

Looked on the HP website; the drivers there did not work. I now have the solution. I used SIW (System Information for Windows). This told me that my SR1209UK had a Gigabyte 8IG1000MK motherboard. Drivers downloaded from Gigabyte worked a treat. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks but............. and is and Obsolete PC. at HP and MS.
sr1902uk (England?)

  1. what OS? drivers match a OS, XP?
  2. sure some makers of mobo offer drivers that HP ended. sure.
  3. so does the unstated NIC chip maker offer drivers but not for all OS in most cases.
  4. The best way to work on old PC is run the PCI scanner(ask)
  5. identify the chip maker and model (ven=x dev=z)
  6. then we can get any driver, for any OS if the chip maker has one, and many dont. for newer OS. (and ther reverse)
  7. Finding drivers for old PC is not easy, (for me sure) but for most, it's very hard and the risk of getting virus high.!!
  8. ask how to do it, using the scanner , lacking HP support.

SOURCE: Rtl 8139D drivers for Red Hat 5 enterprise edition

I have no choice and open terminal then type “init 0′ (shutdown) :D. Then switch back to Windows XP to find the type of driver I need to install on Linux RHEL 5 and find solution over the internet. Noticed that I am using Realtek RTL8139/810x for NIC on Windows. After that, quickly go to the internet to find “how to install Realtek RTL8139/810x on Linux RHEL 5“. Then, I found that many crappy thing and **** suggestion over the forum. I read almost all Linux forum and follow all the sugesstion included to use ndiswrapper to install that Realtek NIC driver. But it doesn’t work on my machine. Yes I confess that I am new in this matter and perhaps ndiswrapper is too advanced for me.
Then, I have decided to try and error. I go to Realtek official website to see if I can get the specific driver for Linux. Found that:
RTL8100B(L)/RTL8100C(L)/RTL8101L/RTL8139C(L)
RTL8139C(L)+/RTL8139D(L)/RTL8100(L)
RTL8130/RTL8139B(L)
all at the same download page. Then I made I my own conclusion that, Realtek8100 or Realtek8101 can be use as well since I can’t find any RTL8139 driver for linux over the internet. Too not wasting your time to read my crappy story, then download this driver over HERE. DOWNLOAD DRIVER HERE, before that make sure you login as root. After download complete, just write the following command on your terminal:
[root@localhost ~]# cd Desktop (i put the file on Desktop)
[root@localhost Desktop]# tar xvvf r8101-1.001.00.tar.bz2
.
.
[root@localhost Desktop]# cd r8101-1.001.00
[root@localhost r8101-1.001.00]# make clean modules
.
.
.
[root@localhost r8101-1.001.00]# make install
.
.
[root@localhost r8101-1.001.00]# depmod -a
[root@localhost r8101-1.001.00]# insmod ./src/r8101.ko
[root@localhost r8101-1.001.00]# lsmod | grep r8101
r8101 28688 0 <—if this appear, then you’ve installed the driver successfully:)
Then check if your ip have configured correctly or not
[root@localhost r8101-1.001.00]# ifconfig -a
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:1C:25:4D:9A:0A
XXXXX XXXX MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
Interrupt:177 Base address:0×2000
lo Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0
inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1
RX packets:1611 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:1611 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:4526976 (4.3 MiB) TX bytes:4526976 (4.3 MiB)
sit0 Link encap:IPv6-in-IPv4
NOARP MTU:1480 Metric:1
RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b)
Since you can see the ethX which X is 0,1,2,3 (mine is eth0)…. instead of just lo and sit0, then its working now. NIC driver has been installed successfully.
Finally, on your terminal type:
[root@localhost ~]# system-config-network

You can see on hardware tab there are Realtek Semiconductor with status ok. Then, move to Devices tab, and click New > Ethernet connection > Forward > Choose REaltek Semiconductor…. > Forward > then up to you whether want to set DHCP or set static IP.
Now you can open Firefox or Konqueror and start browsing internet happily:)
[p/s] If check again on your terminal with ifconfig -a it should return your local ip address under the eth0 which is 192.168.1.* ; * is 2-255

HP 530 wireless will not pick up any wireless networks. Please help

Hi.

First ensure that the wireless adapter is turned on.

If the adapter is on and does not detect any network, reinstall wireless network adapter drivers. the drivers can be obtained using the link below.

Download drivers and software

Reinstalling driver software usually fixes the problem, if it does not it usually means that the internal adapter is defective, in that case you will need to use an external wireless adapter (USB).

Hi,
Do not worry, to uninstall the driver, open device manager. under it choose network adapter and uninstall the Wired or Wireless drivers which you are supposed to.
Open HP.com
type the product number. EX: FZ017PA. (this is a Compaq CQ45 model). You will have something similar to it.
To locate the product number:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?tmp_renderType=findModel&lc=en&dlc=&cc=us&docname=c00033108&product=18703
Now, type the product number in the search area of HP.COM, choose your product and click support and drivers download. VOILA.!!!

Network adapter not showing up in device manager

The tech was incorrect - your network adapter is just not recognized by the system. If you install the correct drivers for your particular network adapter it should be recognized, which should then solve your problem. Search the Gateway website for network drivers for your particular desktop, and if the network adapter was added (not built into the computer) then determine the manufacturer and model of your network adapter, then search the manufacturer's website for the correct drivers.

Even easier, if you still have the original disks that came with your computer and/or network adapter, they should include the correct drivers.

Hope this helps!

Internet connection

  1. Use a different computer and download the drivers from HP website.
  2. http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html
  3. Download the network drivers. Download them all so you won't miss any your computer has.
  4. Reinstall using updated driver.
  5. If the driver does not come with an installer. Right click "My Computer" and select "Manage"
  6. In device manager right click network adapter or ethernet adapter and select "Update Driver" when asked for driver point the wizard to either the CD or USB drive you have the new drivers on.
  7. Not all drivers will work on your system but the ones that do will solve your problem.

Internet driver problem

hi teclay,

in motherboard's cd, the net adapter drivers are included. it uses a Ethernet adapter and works perfectly.

to use the net adapter to a network, you'll need to configure that terminal in Network Connections (Start Menu) to LAN Connection. There you'll type the setting given by the network administrator, where the internet main server is connected (modem to line out).
Remember, the authorization to internet user must be given by the administrator too because of the modem-router, being in a network

complements.
