532 ice maker works, but dumps water into ice container with ice.

Ice is made and dumped into container. Water is also dumped in to the point that one large ice block forms. How can I stop the water dumping into the container?

Thanks, EEP

I had the same exact problem in my 532. Had service technicians over twice, each time they fixed the problem for only very short amount of time. Very frustrating! So I decided to fix myself. I removed the screws from the ice maker and lifted the panel, and flipped ice maker backward, so I could see the issue. The problem was the water tube which supplies the ice maker with the water to freeze into cubes. It's designed poorly and just slightly too short. I had black tubing on hand from a flower box drainage project I previously worked on, and it fit perfectly inside the short tube, which extended it enough to solve the problem. I extended the tube only about a half inch. No more solid drawer of ice. Now I get perfect ice cubes again!

Do you still have a manual or can tell me the watts power consumption of the 532?

I'll look into your question. Sounds like a sticking icemaker water valve, but I'll have a look.

Ice maker doesn't fill or dump WSF26C2EXY02

One of the most common - and innocent - causes of an ice maker that won't dispense ice is that an ice clump has formed inside. In order to drop the ice cubes from the mold, heat is released to lightly melt them.

Brand new magic chef ice maker has never worked.

Brand new ice maker has not made ice yet. It has been 3 days. It pulls water, fun runs close to 10 minutes, goes through the motions of dumping ice in the bucket but there is no ice to be dumped. ..........amazon78.com8GBLH5

Why did the ice maker stopped making ice

You have two sides to the water control valve so look inside your ice maker and see if after the last ice harvest your ice maker refilled with water. If half full or empty try filling the ice maker with tap water up to the top of the the ice maker. If the ice maker dumps the ice after the water freezes then does not refill with water this will point to the WR57X10051 Dual Water Inlet Valve If the ice maker does nothing once filled with tap water will point to the WR30X10093 Ice Maker Assembly and will be better to repace. I will be here should you have more questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

No ice Ice maker does not fill up with water

Pour about 2/3 cup of water into the ice maker . If it freezes and dumps , then check the fill tube going to the ice maker , to see if it is frozen up inside . If it is , replace the water valve behind the refrig , where the wall water line connects to on the refrig . If the ice maker dumps the cubes , but does not refill with water , then the water valve is bad . If the ice maker does not dump the cubes , then replace the ice maker .

Ice dispenser does not work unit makes ice and water works fine

As long as the ice trays are filling with water, it's not actually the function of the ice maker to make ice. Ice simply forms because the freezer compartment is cold.

The icemaker's function is to sense when ice is formed in the trays and to dump the ice into its container.

This requires the use of a thermostat to sense the water/ice temperture and 'tell' the icemaker when it's time to dump the ice.

During the dump cycle, a heater briefly comes on as the arm swings through the ice cube compartments to assist in loosening the ice cubes and make them easy to dump.

If the icemaker is filling with water but you get no ice, I suspect that either the control circuit (thermostat, relays, and wiring) is not 'telling' the heater to come on, or the heater is burned out.

Some units also have a timer circuit such that both the timer contacts and the thermostat contacts must be close in order to initiate a dump cycle (i.e., it must be time to dump and the water in the cubicles must be frozen).

A skilled homeowner could make these repairs, but if you don't feel comfortable taking your icemaker apart and testing the components, I advise leaving the job to a qualified repairman.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

Whirlpool refrigerator ED22TEXHW01 ice maker

Tammi, you first want to check to make sure the water inlet tube to the icemaker is not frozen shut. Next, get yourself a jumper wire about 4 inches long with the ends stripped exposing the wire on each end. Pull off the ice maker cover, it will pull right off. Now you are looking at the module. On the module, left side, you will see two test points marked V and L. Insert one end of the jumper wire into V and the other marked L. You are now sending 120 volts to the water valve and water should fill the ice maker providing the inlet tube is not frozen over. If it doesn't fill, you either have a bad water valve or module itself. Also check to see if the clips that hold the center gear on the module are not broken. Catriver..post back.
