My Mitsubishi VS-50705 has an all over 3-D effect.

Does it sound like the convergence?

  • kskeller49er Mar 10, 2009

This was exactly the problem with my tv. Thanks for the expert advice! I called a TV repair man and he told me to upgrade to the 120's as they were compatible with the 110's. Be advised they are not compatible. The 120's short out the TV. Put in the 110's and my TV works beautifully. Thanks again.

SOURCE: Our Mitsubishi (VS-50705) TV has a 3-D effect. How do we fix it?

It MAY fix the problem, and may not. Part is about $300, if I recall correctly. You have to make a decision on pretty much whether you're all in on this TV or not. If the convergence fix does not work, it may be other things. A professional TV tech may be able to give you further guidance.

If it were me (and obviously it is not)... I'd put the money towards a 32 or 37 inch flat panel. Or larger, if your budget allows.

Video is double and no sound

This model TV is known for coolant leakage from the picture tubes. If this is your problem you will find liquid on the circuit board by removing the back panel. The spilled liquid causes a plethora of problems depending on where the liquid collects on the circuit board.
Also possible convergence IC failure.
Call a good TV Tech.

I have a Mitsubishi Rear Projection tv (vs-50705). The picture shows a concave image on the top and bottom of screen and the edges go off the screen. I have red blue and green ghost images on the screen...

Well, you did the right first step. However, when the convergence outputs toast up they sometimes cause other problems. First would be the fuses that supply them voltage. These are pico fuses back in the power supply. Second would be open supply resistors that have opened up because of the excessive current draw caused by the whacked out convergence amps. When changing the outputs doesn't solve the problem it takes the repair out of the realm of the do-it-yourselfer. My recommendation is to let a professional take over.

V-50705 convergence issue

Since the unit works on occasion, I'd be leaning toward a connection problem more so than a defective component. Go over the entire convergence board and resolder any connections that appear grainy or have rings. See if that has any effect on the behavior. If not, then we need to start looking at parts that are being effected by heat. Try to see if there is any particular pattern to when the problem begins. I don't have hte schematic with me at the moment. One other resource for you would be to visit techlore.com Post this question to Larry. He has the most experience with these sets.

Mitsubishi 50705

Good Day, tree64;
More than likely the convergence problem the TV has wont be resolved by adjustments. In your situation, moving TV, the problem most likely is poor solder connections on the convergence IC's. They are large devices attached to very large heat-sinks, and have numbers on the IC'c like STK 392-560.
If no poor connections....replce.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Mitsubishi VS-50705 convergence problem.

There should only be a couple of STKs, the R's are resistors, they STKs should cost under $20. This should be everything you are looking for. If you need anything else, let me know.

Mitsubishi VS-50705 50 in apparent convergence problem.

First thing a tech would do is solder around Convergence amps then check to see if you can align by menu then if can not. Change amps and maybe resistors.
