I had problems keeping my batteries charged so I replaced them. After only 1 hr I lose all green lights. This problem is intermittent as sometimes the charge holds.

When replacing the batteries the guy shorted them momentarily and burned himself. Did he ruin the battery/ies?

Have that guy thoroughly test your batteries and connections. In fact, have him replace the batteries.

SOURCE: Jet 3 Ultra won't charge

Indeed, you need to find a repair shop. Try a google search for power chair repair, or ask your local hospital or if you can find one a power chair store. Most likely, you have a mechanical failure of the wiring, the battery themselves, or corrosion on the battery posts. Since the chair lights up when the charger is in, it is unlikely that the charger is broken. You may have a failure of the controller board, but that is also unlikely. And batteries do not usually suddenly fail completely; they typically fail slowly, losing the ability to completely charge.

I assume that you did not see a great deal of fluid leaking out of the battery container; you might look in the container and check to see if a battery is cracked or missing fluid.

SOURCE: need to remove the bad batteries Jet 3 power chair

Hello Donald ,
You may have solved this problem by now ,but just in case you have not, here goes.

Make sure the chair is turned off and engauged in the drive mode meaning not in the free wheeling mode. This way it will not roll around on you during the battery change out.

Go to the rear of the chair and slightly turn the two black plastic lock pins, one on each side they actually lock the small )) shaped cover in place. Turn these with your fingers or you can also insert a dime in the slot on top of each pin to turn them . You will be able to tell when they have unlocked as the )) shaped cover will be loose. Lift the cover up and under it you will find the battery connector, unplug it and leave the cover off for now.

Next ,move to the front of the chair and just to the rear of the footplate you will find a locking pin that runs through the lower rear bar of the footplate as well as the chair frame itself . Pull this pin completely out. Once done you should be able to pull the entire footplate assembly out torward you, Black plastic front cover included. Once you have it pulled outward lift it upward and it should lift completely off the chair. This done , you should actually be looking at the front battery which is sitting in a black plastic tray. Gently but with a firm grip grab the tray anyplace you can and slowy begin to slide it out from under the chair torward you taking care not to tangle the battery connector at the rear with any other wiring on its way out. Once you have the tray slid out into the open ,you will be looking at both batteries after which you will need to unhook the straps that secure the Batteries to the tray after which you will need grab your wrenches and remove the battery harness itself from each battery. You may want to do just one battery at a time this way you'll have less wiring to keep track of when wiring in the new Batteries. The Batteries in your Jet 3 are a size known as U-1 deep cycle sealed maint. free batts, You can use either Gel Cell or seale3d LA replacements . Though they are much cheaper, you cannot use lawn tractor batteries. Though they look the same the internal technology between medical powered mobility batteries and tractor batteries are entirely different. The latter would only run your chair for maybe a half hour or so before needing charge.
Take great care to make sure your wiring hookups are correct and that you position the rear connector plug to the rear of the tray. This way you will be able to locate it easier once you have slid the tray back in under the chair and it is time to go to the rear of the chair and reconnect that plug. As for everything else ,reattach it in reverse of the way you removed it including remembering to slide the lockpin back into the front footplate frame. Give a tug on the footplate when done to make sure it is locked and secure.
In closing I offer this valuable advice : When working with any of these batteries, always were safety glasses or goggle and gloves (terminals are lead). I also advise removal of metal rings ,watches, bracelets etc that could create a short when reaching in and around the battery terminal. Take great care with your tools and wrenches in making sure you keep and eye on both ends of the tools at all times. This way you will not accidentally cross the posts of the battery. Take your time ,use proper safety technique and you'll do fine. The following is Pride Mobility's step by step for battery change out and is basically the same as I have sent . Can never have to much info but can always find yourself with not enough. Take Care

SOURCE: batteries not charging - just replaced

1st Check the 25amp inline fuse located behind the volt meter. 2nd Check the 50 amp fuse located behind the foot rest. A pin located under the foot rest when pulled out will open the front to access the fuse.

CHARGER GREEN LIGHT FLASHES ALWAYS EVEN WHEN NOT PLUGGED INTO BATTERIE ALSO ONLY LASTS ABOUT 1 HR ON SCOOTER GOES FROM GREEN TO RED IN NO TIME

Battery Not Holding a Charge

Mobility scooter batteries can encounter problems, as over time, these batteries age and lose some of their effectiveness, until eventually they stop working completely. In this case, battery replacement represents the only thing that owners can do to fix the problem. Before doing so, however, they should perform some other troubleshooting measures to make sure. For collapsible scooters, seat the battery properly when unfolding the scooter for use. Owners should also make sure to properly connect the battery, while also looking for any error messages or flashing lights displayed on the scooter's dashboard.

You have a bad air intake manifold gasket. If it runs idling high, take a can of brake cleaner and spray it on the air intake manifold by the firewall. Spray it right where the air intake bolts on. There are 8 10mm bolts or nuts there. When you spray it while idling, the revs will come down. This makes sure that is the problem before you go any farther. My 02 did the same thing. If you need to know how to change it, let me know, I can walk you through it. It's a one to two hour job, b ut easy

Sometimes, the charger will overheat and fail. Try unplugging the charger overnight, plug it back in the next morning, then place the battery in the charger after waiting a few moments. Normally, this will correct the charging discrepancy.

I have a 2002 pride legend 3 wheel scooter i put 2 new batterys in it and turn key on and the light is green and you can ru it for how ever long maybe 30 min or longer sometimes not even that long tu

ok when ever you replace the batteries on Pride Equip you must condition them for the first week 8-14 hours charge every night unplug every morning and after that charge as needed not every day unless it is absolutely needed. If you did not do this then you could've ruined the batteries.

Janice check your charger it could not be charging the batteries. Now always charge your batteries overnight while you sleep When you get up lights on the charger should be red and green if they are red and yellow then the charger hasn't fully charged the batteries and overnight should be more than enough time to charge fully. This could indicate a bad battery remember new doesn't always mean good. Like they say always charge before use and this goes for new batteries too you need to charge new batteries nightly for 10-15 days before they start operating at 100%. If when you plug in the charger before bed and the lights are red and green then there is a problem with the charger or the batteries or the charger circuit Hope this helps you

New batteries keep losing their charge, also when running sounds like it loses all power then in a split second it stays running

sounds like an over draw on system
computers need min 10.5 volts to stay alive (working) other wise they shut down
i would start by charging batteries fully and disconect from vehicle for 24 hr
then re check before hooking up if they staied charged batteries are good
then hook up bateries negatives then hook up a voltage meter to performed a parasedict
test other word in series to positive cable on wire and other to battery positive if draw is high
on meter start removing fuses on at a time until voltage on meter drops
you have know located source of draw that is killing batteries know diag that problem
ex . under hood light staies on........glove box stays on.......aftermarket stuff inproperly conected
good luck

Battery Recharge for Liebert PowerSure PSA

Yes, is the short aswer to your question. The battery should charge as you use the ups. If they don't then its likely the battery/s have failed. Lead acid batteries do not like being left discharged for any length of time. In a motor vehicle the battery gets a bit of shaking around, but in an ups they don't. If not used and left discharged, the plates quickly sulfate up reducing the efficiency to nearly zero. Test and replace any battery that cannot support a test load, such as a bright12v light or a 12v soldering iron connected to it. The length of time required to charge the battery/s depends on their capacity (in ampere/hours) and the charging rate. A 14.4 amp/hr battery charged at say 1 ampere will take 14-1/2hrs to charge.(just as a sample)
