Hi everybody, The water will not drain from my old built-in dishwasher... I never had an american model of dishwashers so I don't know at all what to do. The sink drains just fine, I think some food remains are clogging somewhere, but I don't know where! I'd appreciate some help :-) (Model number VDB6110LD129, Ser. CG519272) Thanks!
I am not familiar with this model, but in general, dishwashers have a grill or trap at the bottom near the back usually and it's held down by screws. SHUT THE POWER AT THE BREAKER PANEL AND SHUT THE WATER SUPPLY OFF! Then check the type of fastener and remove the cover. If it is obstructed by food debris, you'll see it there. Good luck and let me know if this helped.

The fill valve is probably stuck in the full position. It's at the bottom of the tub and looks like a small tube with a cap on it. You should be able to move the cap up and down easily.

disassemble the top of the dishwasher pump, remove the bottom spray arm and remove the screws on the top of the pump housing this will get you started

The bubbles created by the dish soap could cause poor draining, but I would think it would just cause more of a bubble problem than a draining problem...
Either way, some people would say to throw a cup of vinegar into the wash area, but I prefer to just use water.
Disconnect the drain line from the machine at the sink and route it into a 5 gallon bucket. Drain and fill the machine several times to clear the bubbles out. This will also give you the opportunity to see if the drain problem you state is a machine problem or a drain problem.
Hope this helps,
Kermit

Fixerfailure, is the knock-out plug still inside if the garbage disposal inlet?
Stick a screwdriver in there to make sure.
spazmo1969, could be the rubber flapper is broken off in the pump discharge outlet.

As background, the dirty water typically goes from the dishwasher to a small tube within a tube, and that goes to the disposal. This ensures that your dishwasher does not back up in the event of a clog.
The problem is likely that the tube that links the thing you see next to your faucet to the disposal is either totally or, more likely, partially blocked.
I recommend taking the entire flex pipe off and inspecting. In my case it was about 80% blocked, so a simple test whereby water was pored down failed to show the issue.
Once I took it apart and gave the tube a plumbing version of an angioplasty all was well.
