Do you mean there is no power to the iPod when it is not connected? Or that you are not able to manually manage the music within the iPod using iTunes? If it will not power on without power behind it, you just need a new battery. you can view a free video on batter replacement at the following web address. also the second web page will take you to an iPod parts online store. And just in case you need the written directions I have posted them below :) Let me know if this is not the issue you are having, or if this does not resolve it.

http://www.ifixit.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Top Case Removal Begin by using a flat tool to separate the white plastic front case from the silver backcase. You will need to stick your flat tool into the crevice, work it down into the crevice, and then pry up so that the casing separates. Apply enough pressure so that your flat tooldoes not slip and scratch your iPod!Continue separating the casing by gently prying up all the way around the unit. It shouldbe much easier to pry the casing apart after you get the initial corner started.

With the casing separated, grasp the top half (the part with the front bezel) and flip it over. Note that there is an orange cable in the top left corner that connects the iPodlogic board to the headphone ports. If you gently grasp the cable and pull, it will slide out of its connector on the headphone port module board.

Headphone Jack Board Removal Before proceeding, you must remove the top case. There are two t6 screws holding the headphone port in place. Remove both of these screws. You can now remove the headphone module.

Hard Drive Removal Before proceeding, you must remove the top case.Hold the hard drive up, and remove the black tape on the hard drive connector. This will reveal the hard drive cable’s connector to the logic board. To remove the hard drive, grasp the cable (thumb on top index finger onbottom) and gently pull the cable out (away from you and the connector)The hard drive will now be free of the iPod logic board.

Hard Drive Cable Removal Before proceeding, remove the hard drive. To remove the hard drive cable, hold the drive, and gently pull up on the cable. It should come out easily.

Headphone Connector Cable Removal Before proceeding, remove the hard drive. To remove the headphone connector cable, Grasp the cable, and gently pull up. It should come out easily.

Logic Board Removal Before proceeding, remove the hard drive and headphone connector cable First, disconnect the battery connector by grasping the cable and gently pulling up to disconnect the cable from the logic board connector. Remove the 6 black T6 Screws.
With the screws removed slightly move the logic board to the left to give more access to the clickwheel cable. Gently pull this cable to free it from the logic boardconnector. The logic board will now easily come free from the case. The LCD will still be attachedto the logic board.

LCD Removal Before proceeding, first remove:Hard DriveHeadphone Connector CableLogic BoardTo remove the LCD, grasp the green connector cable, and gently pull to free it from the logic board connector. It should come out easily.

Battery Removal Before proceeding, first remove:Hard DriveHeadphone Connector Cable Logic Board To remove the battery, use a flat tool to pry the battery up. It is held on with a lightadhesive, and should come up by using just a little force. Lift the battery out of the unit.

My kid was playing with it and now i cant unlock my screen

Hello :

Connect your iPod to the primary computer you use it with (the first one iPod synced with), and open iTunes. When you disconnect iPod from the computer, it will no longer be locked.
If you can't unlock iPod using either [the code or connecting it to the computer you use to manage its songs]. . . you can restore your iPod to factory settings using iPod Updater. Please note that this will erase all data on your iPod. Afterwards, you can add your music and data back to your iPod.

good luck .

Ipod nano 2gb cannot be synced required disk

Hi,

1. Run "c:\WINDOWS\system32\devmgmt.msc" (this is the Device Manager), this will need to be used later, but you'll need it quickly when you do.
2. Start i Tunes
3. Connect i Pod
4. Go to your i Pod Settings and select "Enable disk use"
5. A dialog box will pop up reminding you that you'll need to manually eject. Hit OK
6. Hit Apply to save changes to the i Pod
7. Quickly switch to Device Manager window and right-click on any item there and select "Scan for hardware changes"
8. Switch back to i Tunes, where you should have a nice, working i Pod!

Let me know, if problem still persists.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

PHILLIPS HTD 7001 IPOD DOCKING STATION

I also have the same problem but now I think it's the type of I-Pod you use. Do you use the I-Pod 80 Gb video or the newer 160 Gb I-Pod with the cover flow etc. ? The documention of the HTD7001 says it's only support some I-Pods. I would know sure if I would have a type of Video I Pod wich is supported by the documentation

Ipod nano problem

hello blair,I Have my own I-pod so I hope this will re asure you. First I think you should restore your I tunes as long as your brother has your songs too. Then ask him to create a CD of all your songs, which is not hard at all. then take the CD and open I-Tunes. Place the CD into your hard drive and I-Tunes should pick up the CD. Then download the content of the CD onto I-Tunes. You Will Now have all your songs on I-Tunes like before. Now plug in your I-Pod and continue like It's the first time you have pluged in your i-pod! hope this helps! Rosebetts xxx
