Bravos xl dryer hot to touch on exterior but not warm inside

Just bought and installed Bravos XL Maytag electric dryer. Triple checked wire connections, fuses, vent piping, all are good. Load turns and slight warmth can be felt if insides of barrel are touched but no real heat inside dryer. Clothes are tossing but not drying. Exterior of dryer on front left top corner is extremely warm and as you run your hand down the side of the dryer it is concernedly hot to the touch. Heat on outside but not inside? Even on hottest settings. No codes displaying to indicate a problem.

Which way does the drum turn? Changed the cord and it is turning counter clockwise is that correct?

Hi,
If your cord looks like this, you should be ok. The other end is also pre-manufactured and cannot be installed incorrectly. It is important that the ground connection (green wire) is connected correctly and it is tight.

My Maytag Bravos XL electric dryer doesn't dry clothes. When I try to run a second cycle it seems like it's too hot and won't start again until it cools.

Make sure your vent pipe is clean and filter is clean. Air flow is number one reason for dryer failure, Check the whole inside of the dryer for lint build up and in the exhaust pipe. The dryer has to vent the humid air in order to dry the clothing. If it can't do that, it overheats and also the humidity stays inside the dryer.

Replacing pulley on Blower Housing

If there is no access panel on lower right side behind machine, you will have to lift the top of the machine from the front and remove the front panel to access the inside of the machine. While there it would be a good idea to check out the drum rollers if present and drum glides for wear. Also make sure that the blower wheel is not loose on the motor shaft. All of these will cause noise issues and are common.
