SOURCE: when i insert the micro sd into card reader slot

Please check the card with another device to confirm that the SD card is in order. If so the slot reader can have fault on the contacts or that the PC driver port of the slot has errors. You can try to restore the PC to an earlier date or reinstall the drivers.

SOURCE: cant read SD card on

The question is is it the slot or the media? You can get an external card reader for about 5 to 10
bucks that will hook up into your computer. Test the media with another computer if you have access to see if its the media that the problem.

How do I access the SD card after I insert it?

Your camera should access your SD card as soon as you insert it. You can plug your camera into your computer and access the card through the camera, or you can get an SD reader and connect that to your computer. Pull the SD out of the camera and put it into the card reader, and your compute will have access to the card.

Installing SD Memory Card

Your camera has a memory card slot that enables you to insert any "SD" compatible memory card up to 8BG. Adding a memory card will allow you to increase the capacity of your camera before you have to transfer photos and videos to your PC. Install the SD memory card as below:

  1. Locate the Memory Card slot within the battery compartment.
  2. Insert the Memory card into the slot in the correct direction. (see the sketch below)
7
  1. Push the card in until you feel it "click" into position. The top of the card should be flushed with the surface of the camera. An icon will appear on the LCD screen after you turn on your camera.
  2. Once the external memory card is inserted into the camera all the images taken with the camera will be stored on the card.

Note:

  1. Limited internal memory is provided for test images. The image will be deleted when camera power is turned off. Please download the images before power off .SD memory card is required for normal use.
  2. An external memory card is required for normal use. Your camera supports any compatible SD memory card (up to 8GB).
  3. If there is a photo in the internal memory when you insert the card into your camera, a "Copy to card" message will appear on the LCD with Yes or No options. On selecting 'Yes' the photo will now be copied to your card.
  4. Formatting will delete all data on the SD memory card including protected data.
8
  1. Don't remove the SD card during formatting as this may damage the card and render it unusable.
  2. When your card is full, download the media on the SD card to your PC and delete the photos and videos from it in order to continue using your

Hi. I have used an older model ELPH camera its quite nice. It sounds that you are using the cable from the camera to the computer to download the photos. I do not know why the error occurred (probably a weak battery ) . Have you tried taking the memory card out of the camera (push it once and it pops out), then insert it into a special SD adapter connected to the computer by USB? Image google sd adapter usb if you do not know what that is. Some computers have the SD slot built in the side. After that on a PC click Start/My Computer where the card should appear as an external storage device. Click on that and on any folders within and your photos should all be there. Select all (Ctrl+A) and copy/paste them into a folder of your choice.

How to transfer pictures from my Canon PowerShot SD1000 digital camera to my computer

There are two ways of doing this:
  1. Install the software on the CD that came with the camera, then use the USB cable that came with the camera to connect it to the computer. The software should walk you through the rest of the process.
  2. Buy an SD card reader (example Card Reader from Amazon.com), connect it to your computer, and take out the SD memory card from the camera, and insert it into the appropriate card slot on the card reader. Then use whatever photo management software to manage your photos.
I would recommend the second method since it reduces the wear and tear on your camera and allows you to access the photos easier through Windows Explorer or Finder (MacOS).
Hope that helps!

Windows vista is not recognizing my canon g10, so i am unable to download photos

Your camera uses SD or SDHC cards. All you have to do is to take the SD card out of your camera and put it in your computer's SD card slot to read the files. If your computer does not have an SD card reader, you can buy one with USB interface from places like Walmart, Kmart, or Bestbuy for under $10. Or get one off Ebay for even less.
