Hi Everyone :) I may have got myself in over my head but I know that I am close on getting this up and running. I bought an used Generac 4390-3 Generator and I did not hear it running when I bought it. Looks like that the guy that had it try and failed to get it running. Got the gas regulator in a box with it and he said that last time it was hooked up it was to Propane. I have natural gas and the 1st thing I did was remove the small brass jet inside it. I checked and I have 6.25 inches of WC on the gas line, from what I see this needs between 5 and 7. Now I got it to fire up and it was going out on over speed. I turns the 2 screws on the regulator all the wan in and then back out 2.5 turns. Now it run but stop after about 40 seconds and try to restart. So I know that I must turn the knobs on the regulator a bit more and get the cycles up to 62 with no load. But what worry me is that I cant get it to run that long to fine tune it and also it is not making any AC volts when it is running. It is reading Cycles I think about 50 right now bout no AC volts. If I take an 12V+dc and touch the no 4 wire on the voltage regulator the red light on the voltage comes on and it makes AC volts, if I recall 160AC across the 2 wires going into the 70 amp breaker. (I only touch this wire for a few seconds as I read that I could burn something out) I have unhooked the oil wire and also the temp and it stills cuts out. I have never worked on one of these and its all new to me and I am hoping that someone who works on them can at least point me in the right direction:)

Blank screen sounds like a fried thermosat. Abrupt outages can affect certain types of thermostats. Make a jumper wire and jump across R and G. See if you get any action from anywhere. If a fan or compressor kicks in you know you have a burned out thermosat...

Hi,
If the generator hasn't been used for awhile the rotor may have lost it's magnetism. All you need is to re-excite it. There are several websites that explain how to do this. It's a good place to start.
