DeWalt DW088 wont work wont switch on why

Makita and Dewalt can being used with similar nails of other brands ? some sellers will you do believe but i can say by marketing technical updates Makita and Dewalt have very rare strict tolerance on dimensions but only original nails will and must working without problems , and 2nd choice nails have allways an other thickness or other kind of bonding they are made of. , use only the nails of the brand you working with if you have or MAKITA or DEWALT use the nails for the brand. otherwise the nailbrads will not slide smoothly its very critical made the last years more and more models of the brand have restrictions and get very fast troubles with cheap homebrands of hardware store parties. USE ONLY ORIGINAL delivered by the new Makita and Dewalt tools. otherwise if not working read the user manual if no succes go for warranty if its not work correct .

The first thing I'd check is running it with the blade off . Could be locked up somehow. I'd also check the spindle lock . If it's stuck down it locks the gears up .

Sounds like a bad switch or a loose wire. You will have to take it apart, you might get lucky and it's just a loose connection, other wise order a new switch

If you bought it at HD return it for a new one. If not you will need to use a meter and check power from receptacle to on/off switch to pressure switch., Check motor winding. If all else fails call Dewalt and they will help you.

Not that I am aware of. The cord should go into a control box where the on off switch is. The motor wires come from that to the motor. I would check the switch box and more importantly the cover. The cover contains the plastic knob that turns the switch on and off. If the knob gets messed up it may not work correctly. The cover is available by itself. Here is a diagram with the part numbers.

Check the battery contacts... a common problem on this model. they are easily bent and prone to corrosion.

I have fix my dewalt dw 056 with a switch comming from an old dewalt hammer drill that i had lying around if you find and older dewalt hamme drill with burn brushes u can interchange the switch ,they sell the repalcement new switch for around $56.00 here in canada its not worthed u can get a new refurbish dewalt impact for around $99.00 from toolking

yep and with this model you are not alone! take it back and exchange it make sure it works before you leab]ve the shop

If it is brand new you may be able to return it to the store for replacement or take it to authorized repair center for warranty
