I have a Samsung Syncmaster 204b lcd monitor. about 4 months ago if i shut the monitor off for 5 minutes or more and went to start it up the light would be very dim and after about 2 minutes it would get a little brighter, then kinda flicker then 2 minutes later it would finally go back on completely. and then all of a sudden 2 days ago, the screen went entirely black. everythings in correct nuthin loose or broken.
so now when i try to turn it on, the power light flashes forever and if i press the auto set button or the power button, nuthin happens. to turn it off i need to flip the switch under the monitor.
after fiddeling it for a while turning it on and off and all this other stuff it would start to come back on. i would see the little whte box on the top left saying digital then analog then digital then after 10 minutes letting it sit, it comes back on. so not sure at all what could be the problem. i use my computer alot, and dont have a job so i cant just get a new 1. hopefully its sumthing cheap that can be replaced. maybe the back light?
The display is in safe mode and you will need to reset the display to get the display out of the safe mode. There are 2 different model revisions. Please choose the method that will match your revision. Depending on the revision of the monitor, one of the following 2 methods should reset it to a normal state. This reset generally requires both hands and it is sometimes easier with another person.
If the serial number begins with an A and/or your power button on the far right (5th button from left):
Method #1
1. Unplug the VGA cable.
2. Remove the power cable from the back of the monitor.
3. Counting the buttons on the front of the panel from left to right as 1 – 5, hold the buttons 2 and 3 down at the same time (see picture above) and while continuing to hold the buttons, plug the power cable back in.
4. Keep holding the buttons for 5 seconds after the power has been plugged in and then let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.
Method #2
4. Keep holding the buttons until the 4th green LED blink; then, let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.
If the serial number begins with a B and/or your power button is in the middle (3rd button from left):
Method #1
1. Unplug the VGA cable.
2. Remove the power cable from the back of the monitor.
3. Counting the buttons on the front of the panel from left to right as 1 – 5, hold the buttons 2 and 4 down at the same time (see attached picture) and while continuing to hold the buttons, plug the power cable back in.4. Keep holding the buttons for 5 seconds after the power has been plugged in and then let go. The green light should be steady when you release the buttons.
5. If the procedure worked, the green light will go to amber and you should see a "No Signal" message on the screen for a few seconds.

I have a smasung 190S and there is no picure for the past 5 months, but the light is flashing yellow all the time no matter which buttons I push or what I do, unplug the monitor connections or unplug the power source. Any suggestions before I throw it in the trash?
If the light you're talking about is the light to the screen then the mecury bulb or the converter are going bad. There's not many people out there willing to replace mecury bulbs. Check around to find one.
