The DIMM chip is located in the formatter board, that cage where the network cable is attached.

As the message says, DIMM 1 failed.
It's pretty straight forward fix for a tech.
So the cost should be minimal for the labor and whatever the

My printer shows memory error on its screen why?

Mem test failure replace Dimm 0 or Mem test failure replace Dimm 1
If either of the are the messages displayed, the problem lies with the mother board (formatter).
DIMM 0 = On Board Memory - cannot be changed. DIMM 1 = Add On Ram - Can be Changed
Make Sure the printer firmware is up to date FIRMWARE
Most Likely the formatter board would require replacing.

I have an HP 3005x and for the third time i've gotten a dimm error and had to replace the dimm.... what is going on?

Formatter board, known problem, even if you don't have dimm installed. Part number q7847-60001. If it was manufactured after 3-2008, and is out of 1 year warranty, it is covered under extended 1 year warranty for formatter board only.

  1. Press Cancel Job to continue.
  2. If the problem persists, turn the printer power off and then turn the printer power on.
  3. It might be necessary to replace the specified DIMM. Turn the printer power off, and then replace the DIMM that caused the error.

Hp 3005dn wont start up all the way

The unit has a bad formatter. The formatter generally comes with memory installed Part# Q7848-31004. Part is super easy to change 6 phillips head screws and 3 cables (ribbon, 6 pin, and 3 or 4 pin power) Remove formatter cover the remove formatter door by opening then lifting up, then unplug the 3 cables then remove the 6 screws. Install is reverse of removal.
