First of all unless you are an expert at electronics you shouldn't attempt to replace the capacitors on your tv. will cause fire or electrocution. the only way to replace the capacitors is to pull out the circuit board inside the tv and check them one by one. if the capacitor is bad the top of it will have a dome shape. unlike the rest of them. the only way to replace them is to heat the solder and pull them off the board. then you need to make sure that you replace them with the exact same capacitor(the same voltage). you need to be pretty good at soldering to install the new one on the board. if you don't feel comfortable with doing any of this then take the circuit board and find an electronics repair shop. they will remove the capacitor from the board and install the new one. I would also suggest calling polaroid, or tv repair shop and finding out how much it would cost to order a new circuit board. make sure you know which board has the bad capacitors.

You may need a new power supply, I would check the power supply fuse where the ac plugs into the tv, you have to pry it out from behind the tv, stiv0s' fix would return 24v to the lcd backlight hence you would have sound but no picture. if the red light doesnt come on at all that would mean the 5v required for standby isnt getting to the mainboard. there is actually a fuse soldered onto the power supply right where the AC cord plugs in. if you had a meter you could check that to see if the fuse is is burnt out.

hi try to Find out whether the two 1000uf 10V capacitors that were bulged out on the power
supply board located inside the main control box, replaced them with
1000uf ,16v capacitors from Allied Electronics at $3.00. Take the parts
to an electronics repair shop and had them replaced, these type of
capacitors have a +/- pins so ensure if your soldering these yorself
get the polarity correct, and don't replace them with 10v again thats
probably why some are only lasting another week or two...

That does not seem capacitor problem in TV. You need to replace power supply board.
Please check Shop Jimmy for part availability.
It is not necessary that every Polaroid TV has same problem and suppose if it is caps problem then you are not TV tech so resolve the issue so it is easy and safe way to replace power supply board.
Alright, If you can unsolder old / bad caps and solder new caps easily then replace 2-3 caps 1000MF 25Volt in power supply board.
Please check below image that shows where 2 caps are located.
You can check further caps that might leaky.

The caps are located on internal pcb, disassembly is quite delicate on a camera.
Buzzing noise on a camera is not from capacitor, you need to check the motor assembly.
Sorry, I posted in the wrong box, regarding your model, if you hear a humming noise, check the capacitors on power board, and eventually replace the whole power board.

Humming noise is not necessarily from power board, usually is faulty audio on an lcd.
You need to follow the compplete troubleshooting procedure on service manual.

To give you an idea here is the service manual for a different chassis, all procedures are not too different from your model.
The erro codes (the blue light flashing and changing color) are the same, schematics are also similar.

Capacitors (C112 and C113) on the main board of the tv they will be loose or near to faulty. get it checked and replaced.

Its the problem of loose soldering joints in the tv as when you on the tv it works properly but after some time due to that loose soldering joints the loose components gets over heated and it power down and you loose picture and sound both.after you turn it off and on after some time it cools down and again works for some time.this goes on but this will not happen after certain period of time as the board will get overheated and majior short circvuit will occur and nothing will come up.just get whole control pcb board soldered and let it get dry for 3-4 hours and then check out connecting again as every thing will be fine.if you get it done at repair center center cost will be negligible at present.
They are located on the main board you will have to open the unit to replace the capacitors.

Why have others posted the same problem and have stated that they repaced the caps and their TVs are working better than ever?
The red light comes on when the TV is turned off. When I try to turn TV on the blue light comes on but no picture or sound until I unplug the TV for a couple of minutes then it will power up and work fine except for a buzzing sound that goes away after a couple of seconds. The TV continues to work fine as long as I don't turn it off.
Thanks for your help. But not what I was looking for. I just wanted to know the istructions for repacing the capacitors other had reported fixed their sets. This set will work fine for 12 plus hours with no problem once powered up. I wanted to upgrade the caps to 25V for more reliability.
Trying to keep the cost down. I have been unemployeed for quite a while and was looking for a less expensive way to fix it.
Can you just tell me what caps they replaced?
